Renard, a blue and gold macaw arrive, following Vitalis.

Within the lobby of the Saving Grace, a mix of people - patients, nurses, apprentices - all move about their business. Off to one side, the co-guildmaster, Medeia, has arranged a seating area where she can work on some paperwork and be available to answer questions to any members of the guild or public who need the attention of guild leadership. She has also arranged a serving cart of tea and cookies. Help yourselves.

Emmelline strides into the busy hospital and looks about her surroundings, till she notices the desk in the corner where Medeia presumably sits. "Lady Medeia?," she asks of the owoman. "Lady Emmelline Harthall, we conversed via messenger just a few moments ago."

"Yes?" Medeia looks up from writing down some instructions and looks at Emmelline. When the introduction is made, she offers the other woman a warm smile. "Ah! Lady Harthall! Yes, you have found me. Please, have some tea, have a seat. It is lovely to meet you." She quickly finishes the instructions and hands the parchment over to the awaiting apprentice. "Are you hoping to become involved in guild service again? Resume training? How can I help you with your return to the city, my lady?"

Emmelline smiles as she takes the offered seat. "Actually," she says with a soft chuckle, "I've come to ask you how I may be of assistance to you. yes," she goes on, "I would love to resume guild service, and would never turn down the opportunity for more training. But I was told," she goes on, "during my conversation with high highness Prince Patrizio, and Raven, that you might be in need of help, what with war impending as is."

Vitalis arrives to the Saving Grace in conference with his attache. The two pause clear of the door and to the side, expressions earnest and intent. The younger man bows and departs and Vitalis turns to scan the room, brightening when he finds Medeia. He tucks his chin and heads their way, bootheels sharp on the stone of the floor. "Lady Saik," he greets, bowing, he shifts to make the bow include Emmelline. He straightens, "Vitalis Clement."

Medeia's brows lift slightly at the mention of Patrizio and Raven, but her smile doesn't waver. It might actually grow a bit brighter. "Well," she says, "How kind of them to help the both of us. The Guild is calling in as many of our people as we can to ensure that training is being completed - especially combat scenario training, and we are coordinating with the fealties to organize 'field' hospitals and triage in order to reduce how many injured need come here should the city be attacked." Which is a possibility she thinks is very, very likely. Vitalis' appearance catches her attention, causing her to rise from behind the desk with a grin. "Lord Clement, this is Lady Emmelline Harthall." The introduction is made before she reaches out a hand to the man, offering a brief squeeze. "How might I help you?"

"My lord," Emmelline says, giving Vitalis a gentle smile, before her attention shifts back to Medeia. "Yes well unfortunately," she says with a soft chuckle, "I would be less than useless in any igven combat situation. So a field medic I probably will never become. Unless I undergo some serious and rather rigorous training which... I suppose if it is asked of me, I might do. But not of my own volition," she readily admits.

Vitalis returns the squeeze and a fond look, "A pleasure, Lady Harthall." He turns loose of Medeia's hand and flicks a finger up at Emmelline's mention of training. "Should you decide on such a path, or someone else does," he clears his throat mildly, "I would be happy to help you devise a regimen that would suit your aims."

"There is always need here in the hospital or the Lowers Clinic," Medeia notes in response to Emmelline's comment on not having the disposition to be a field medic. "And of course, preparing medicines, stocking bandages, speaking with those whose support can ensure success..." The lady shrugs gently. "I have a feeling, though, that we /all/ will find ourselves in the role of field medic when the field is the streets outside our estates. If Bastion, Artshall, and more are to be used as an example, we can either act or flee." Her lips press thin, not liking what she's saying. And, it seems, she has no intention of forcing someone to take on training they don't want, as she doesn't push beyond the comments she's already made. But then there is Vitalis' offer bringing a renewed smile to her face. "That is greatly appreciated, my lord, and I will be certain to inform any in the guild who inquire."

Emmelline nods in understanding at Medeia's words. "Well do let me know how I can be of assistance. It has been awhile," se goes on, "since I've visited the hospital. And I do like to be useful." At the mention of war coming to the city itself, she frowns. "Well, we can only hope, things do not come to that."

"I am at your service," Vitalis sweeps an abbreviated bow to Medeia and Emmeline both. He fishes a folio from his satchel and holds it before him, tucking his chin. "I didn't mean to intrude. I have some information to share, but I can leave it for perusal at your leisure, Lady Saik." He gestures the folio forward and glances between the two women.

Medeia gives Emmelline a nod. "I have not yet heard if High Lady Valardin has designated a liaison for the ward, perhaps you could reach out and speak with her and Countess Thea Wyvernheart to see if they have someone in the role?" She offers to write the names down for the Harthall lady. Then she's looking to Vitalis and the offered folio. "Oh?" She holds a hand out to accept it. "What is this?" A touch of excitement can be heard in her voice as she looks t the lord expectantly.

Emmelline nods and smiled at Medeia. "I have yet to make their acquaintances. But I will reach out to them as soon as I am able." As Vitalis approaches with the folio, she takes a step back. "Oh please, do not let me intrude with business."

"It's some delving into esoteric matters with a group of interested folk. Lady Harthall, if you are interested in matters occult, arcane, or simply fantastic - I have been leading a group of researchers investigating these matters at a-" he gestures airily, a smile skirling over his features, brightening eyes, "-whim? We are chasing whatever seems interesting week by week. I was coming by to share our latest findings with Lady Saik. And invite her, now both of you to join. If you wish."

Emmelline's widen slightly, as a curious expression crosses her countenance. "You know it wasn't so long ago," she remarks with a soft chuckle, "that I was in conversation with others who spoke about the mysteries of the red moon and the like. So it seems the arcane and the unusual seem to catch many people's interests. Well... so it seems that way," she says conversationally, a soft chuckle escaping her lips.

Medeia loses a moment skimming over the contents of the offered folio, and when done, her eyes shine with interest as she looks up at Vitalis gratefully. "Thank you for bringing this by," she murmurs, tucking it safely into a bag at her feet behind the desk. She glances over st Emmelline and offers, "I have been looking into the types of threats we might be facing, so that we can better prepare against them." The explanation is almost disappointing for its lack of juicy details.

Emmelline nods in understanding at Medeia. "Speaking of types of threats," she says after a moment's contemplation, "I heard something about our alchemy person... mistress... not sure, fighting for the other side?," she asks rather than states, clearly unsure on the details.

Vitalis nods, "A lot has changed in the decade since I first came to Arx. It might be too much to hope that the terrible Pall thrown over us is weakening, but as a people we are becoming more bold and more informed. Trying to reclaim what we've lost is one of the most key battles we fight." Vitalis clears his throat, a learned man, but not given to long expositions on his work. "There are quite a few fighting for the other side. Was that," he squints, "Messere," he corrects, his southern form of address to Lady Harthall's, "Mistress Auda?"

It takes noticeable effort on Medeia's part to remain composed when the 'alchemy person's brought up. The lady's jaw tenses after. flash of anger can be seen in her expression. "Former Guildmistress Auda Florin is on a personal leave from the Apothecary College of Tor. Countess Thea has graciously stepped in to lead in her stead." It's a practiced, political line. "My resignation from the College prior to the events of this past summer should be considered /entirely unrelated/ to alleged actions of the former Guildmistress." She looks between the two, before carefully lowering her voice. "The hospital is not warded."

Emmelline shrugs her shoulders at Vitalis's questions. "I am not sure," she readily admits. "Sometimes names come and go out of my head. it was only mentioned in passing," she explains, "because I had said I had a passing familiarity in alchemy."

Vitalis' brows loft, "I had wondered, but I wasn't aware of any foul play." He frowns and settles back on his heels thoughtful a moment. He makes a sound in his throat and straightens, "It's a fascinating subject, to be sure. And one that should you be interested in learning more, the Lady Saik is a most able instructor."

Emmelline nods and smiles at both Vitalis and Medeia. "yes, I have heard my lady," she says addressing Medeia, "that you are quite a talented apothecary as well. it seems I have much to learn from you. But for now however," she says as she rises to her feet and stretches, "I should be headed home. It was lovely to meet you both," she says flashing a smile at both Vitalis and Medeia. "I hope to see you both before too long."

"Thank you for coming by," Medeia says to Emmelline. But the lady is distracted by an announcement being made by criers in the streets. She stands and moves toward the door to hear better.
