Siege Stories VI

Story Emits

A fearful, angry lynch mob dragging along a handful of citizens accused of being in league with the Bringers was defused in the Upper Boroughs. Lady Juliet Fidante, along with generous Princess Katarina and Princess Seva Thrax did well to grab the crowd's attention and steer them towards more peaceful and orderly resolution, which allowed them to address grievances and refute accusations one by one.

Asher Morrlin spoke more discreetly to a few ears in the crowd, but they seemed resolutely indignant, particularly a few shady characters, that the street rat decided to keep an eye on. Guardsman Merek kept the peace until it became necessary to leap into action and force the last violent protesters to flee.

The accused were set free. The Prodigals among them refused to return to their home in the Lowers, and a merchant's house had a number of windows shattered that very evening after. But no one was murdered in the public square that day.

A small party of investigators, with Princess Sophie, of the Mercies, guarded by Sir Armel of the Knights of Solance, alongside Princess Ann Redrain and Princess Seva Thrax, with two Iron Guards, Calaudrin Estardes and Thena Grayhope, were seen visiting a shop on Peddler's Path. The owner had died the day before, it seemed, of an unexpected illness, rumor has it linked it to a number of other deaths and serious illnesses in the area. After the Iron Guard questioned the shop assistant and snooped around, while the Princesses attended to an inspection of the deceased and the premises, the group was seen leaving the shop to visit a nearby fountain, before vanishing into a maintenance tunnel.

They emerged soon after, rumor has it after fighting fearsome rats and uncovering a body or bodies, or other horrors. That very same day, the fountain was plugged and guards posted to prevent any of the locals from using it, and the door to the maintenance tunnel and the waterworks beyond has been sealed shut. No one else has fallen ill since.
