The city was relatively calm considering the departure of 1500 Iron Guardsmen deserting into the Gray Forest after the attempted coup by Lord Commander Everard Telmar. Unfortunately, the significant decrease of that many guardsmen in the city of a half-million people is starting to be extremely apparent. Criminal activity is on a sharp uptick, with a rash of burglaries, petty thefts, and strong arm robberies in the normally extremely safe Upper Boroughs and even the Ward of the Compact as well. The Inquisition is responding, drawing some attention away from the Lower Boroughs, and even efforts to stem the rising crime has created some tension. Some Knights of Solace that were helping patrol the streets since Everard Telmar's betrayal attempted to break up a bar fight at the Murder, and wound up in a brawl with Iron Guardsmen attempting to do the same after tension and insults led to thrown fists. No one was killed, but it does seem to be only a matter of time.
What started as an argument at a small outdoor market in the Commons Square escalated first to accusations of theft and threats of violence. As people crowded around to see what was going on, the sound of breaking glass rang out and the situation has bloomed into outright violence. The Iron Guardsmen there are clearly overwhelmed and struggling to get things back under control.
A brawl broke out between members of the Commons Square market and the Iron Guard. However, a fast response by Iron Guard officer Serafine Velenosa, Lady General Calypso Malvici and several over people managed to quell the brawl before damage could be done to the square or the market.
In the aftermath word going around is that it was the fault of the Iron Guard, that they stepped in where they weren't welcome, and threw the first punch...
