Comments and Log

Nallah, a buff-looking tortie cat with green eyes, 2 House Mazetti Aspirants arrive, following Alessia.

Tyce the gruff and disapproving arrives, following Juliana.

Gia the peregrine falcon, 3 Rubino and Zaffria guards, 2 Armed Confessors, Rary the Lycene beauty arrive, following Grazia.

While the gardens of the Velenosa Estate pale in comparison to the gardens of Lenosia, the sight of those wisteria plants in full bloom lends a pleasant, and nice-smelling, back drop to the garden party organized for the Count and Countess. Tables of assorted snack foods and servants circulating with trays of champagne glasses provide refreshements. Guests are encouraged in conversation until the Archduchess herself taps a manicured nail on the crystal glass and calls out, "If I could but have your attention for a moment." She pauses, smiling, until the crowd hushes enough and she can say, "Thank you all for coming today. I am pleased to welcome House Corvini into the Lyceum, though, really, it's a lot more like welcoming them -back- into our fold. I am so pleased to see Count Giulio so well-matched in his new Countess, Ilinca. I wish you many happy years to come as well as an entire castle full of babies." Eleyna laughs and lifts her glass. "To Count Giulio and Countess Ilinca of House Corvini!"

2 House Velenosa Guards, Benvolio, a beleaguered valet arrive, following Berenice.

2 House Velenosa Guards, Benvolio, a beleaguered valet leave, following Berenice.

Mihai is off to the corner, carousing with some courtiers of minor import when the call to a toast calls out. Not to lose a perfectly adequate moment to be loud, the Corvini raises his own wineglass, "To my cousins! But maybe hire a few nurses before you go about filling any castles with babies, please. I want to sleep at night."

The slender figure of Giulio Corvini (nee Mazetti) stands joined with his wife, Ilinca Corvini, who has his arm. They are trailed by their guards, and, of course, his secretary, Marius, the figure clad in his usual bland raiments. He offers a smile to Eleyna, his head bowed, "Your Grace," he offers. Cambria receives a bowed head. "Cousin," he says, smile a warm thing. Those dark orbs track towards Hadrian. "Marquis-Consort," he offers, his smile a pleasant, professional thing. He glances towards Mihai. "Brother mine," he continues. "Your kindness and acceptance has been most appreciated." And then, he's walking towards the Archduchess. Grazia receives a smile as well. "Duchess Rubino. It is so very lovely to see you. The support of House Rubino has been most appreciated with recent endeavors."

Nightshade, a tiny black kitten, 3 Rubino and Zaffria guards, Ariadne, Penelope arrive, following Dafne.

There is drinking and partying and congratulations and things. Enyo has turned up for the event, a drink in one hand, her attention settled on Eleyna until the time comes for saluting Giulio and his new wife, her free hand lifting up to tuck her fingers into her mouth before she whistles her congratulations.

Alessia has joined the benches by the fountain.

Hadrian offers a nod back to Giulio at his greeting. The comment to Grazia though earns a glance that slides smoothly around to regard the Duchess of House Rubino. Slowly but surely a smile begins to draw broad across Hadrian's features. Each of his gloved hands comes to rest atop the other over his center of his waistline. He rocks forward and then back on his heels as his chin dips lower so that he may lean aside and offer a quiet word to the Marquessa of House Mazetti.

Vitalis and Alessia would also both receive smiles and warm regards. "Before all things extend, formally, however." Giulio says, his tone somber. "I would encourage, deeply, the attendance to the memorial for my cousin, Valerio. His valor, is, without doubt a thing of great exception... and he is a man worthy of respect... and remembrance."

Grazia folds her hands on her own swollen belly and bows her head politely to Giulio. "It is my pleasure to support my allies in their time of need of course," she replies pleasantly to the new Count, even if her tone is somewhat flat and bland. "And this must be your lovely bride, the Countess Ilinca. Welcome, welcome."

Harlen arrives, following Duarte.

"Always, cousin. You hold a place in my heart as well as you do Ilinca's, but just in a," Mihai considers those words as he drinks a sip from his wine, "different way. I've enjoyed what you've done for us, and you honor the word you've given with your every breath. All of Corvini pays heed to you, and we are at your service." He offers a bow of his head, since it is rather awkward to do a proper flourish when you're carrying something that can spill in your almost blindingly white silks and ruin them. He pauses, though, at Giulio's moment of silence.

Juliana is in yellow when she steps into the gardens on the tail end of the Duchess' toast, catching a glass as it goes by and lifting it at the apporiate point, though it should probably be noted that she doesn't actually drink more than the slightly touch of the wine to her lips. Behind her, the half Eurusian Tyce reaches over to take the glass from the Lady, freeing her hands to clap before bobbing a quick curtsey in Eleyna's direction.

Richard arrives as the current activity starts. As customary of him, he bows to those present, utilizes the proper titles such as my lord, my lady, your highness. And then introduces himself as, "Lord Richard Wyrmguard." Then stands quietly with hands behind his back: his proper milirary stance. The austere looking man remains with that serious expression he is getting known for. Not a smile shown. Just a serene look where he simply proceeds to watch those that are here now, or are still arriving. He certainly was there to watch the activity. Though it is quite clear he is still a recent arrival to Arx.

Derovai has been lurking somewhere in the mid-distance, in a remote corner of the grounds. He's at least got himself a drink of champagne, which he holds loosely by the stem as he claps, deliberately. Clap, clap. There's no cheering, though, and he raises a brow at Giulio's somber note, his gaze cutting to Cambria and Hadrian. He's still silent.

Vitalis holds the stem of a handsome glass, the belly glittering with stars of carbonation. He is standing, listening and not listening, eyes mostly fixed on the middle distance. His attention shifts at the change in the room's timbre and tone and blinks, looking around for... Eleyna. Ah, yes. A toast. A smile ghosts, fleeting, across features shadow-cast. At Giulio's words the smile becomes more genuine, flesh on the bones of a remembered happiness, "Thank you, cousin, it is our pleasure to be here. Family, sharing in sorrows, yes. But joy as well." He lifts his glass to the couple, "To your union, may it be fruitful."

Dafne slinks in somewhere in the middle of the speeches, clad in black velvet (surprise). She glances about the gardens, and begins to head in the direction of her co-duchess, but pauses at Guilio's words, lowering her dark head a moment.

Pale blue eyes shift to watch the interplay between various parties with an interested expression, watchful. Perhaps a little calculating, if one weren't being generous. As Giulio mentions Valerio, the Archduchess nods and offers as well, "The Lyceum grieves with House Mazetti over the loss of Lord Valerio. His courage is admirable and something we should strive to emulate."

Sat in silence, at the bench by the fountain, Alessia Mazetti cuts a grim figure as she pours rum into an empty cup. She glances up as the toasts are made, managing a polite albeit strained smile for her cousin and his new wife, before taking a deep drink. Rising she inclines her head to the couple. "I wish you a life of merriment." His mention of the late, Valerio has her revert to her previous silence.

"We thank you, Archduchess," Hadrian answers Eleyna's sentiment with a polite bow of his head, "Lord Valerio fought valiantly or so we've been told by those present. A symbol worthy of emulation within Ostria and beyond. Too many are quick to scuttle away from their appointed duty." Hadrian's smile remains somber and subdued as he lifts takes up a glass and announces with a nod toward Giulio, "Such unfortunate things aside. Congratulations to House Corvini."

The new Countess Corvini stands on her husband's arm, a black-clad figure among all of those colorful garden blooms. At Eleyna's introduction, she slips into a rather practiced -- perhaps to their hostess, and perhaps to the assembled. "Archduchessa," comes Ilinca's answer to the toast in her low, alto tones. "Many thanks, for all of your kindnesses. And for your generous welcome." If there was more for her to add, or any sign of pleasure or amusement at the jests about fat babies crying well into the night, it's swept quickly away by mention of the late Mazetti Marshall, at whose loss she bows her head deeply. Though little in the way of recognition for more than the man's touches her face, well. If nothing else, Ilinca's quite good a cutting a wonderfully macabre form.

Cambria, on the arm of her husband, plays meet and greet with all those who pass their way. Whatever condolences come her way are acknowledged with a stoic, albeit polite response. At Hadrian's words to Eleyna, Cambria nods, then lifts her glass (one so fortunately deposited into her hand by a passing server) in toast to Giulio and his new bride.

Richard remains quiet, though it seems the mention of Valerio makes him draw a quiet sigh. Though being who he is, he doesn't really take to drinking liquor. However if there are non liquor refreshments, he'd probably take one while still returning back to his position. You'd think the man was some sort of hired guard with how he conducts himself. Just listening quietly to the others.

Walking over to Ilinca and Giulio, Mihai sweeps her in an exaggerated hug and kisses both of her cheeks, before doing so to the groom. "I love -both- of you. Welcome, Giulio, and congratulations, Ilinca. I was only joking about the nurses, by the way. I'll be the bad uncle." With a beaming smile to both, he offers a bow towards Eleyna and introduces himself once he's managed to place his empty wineglass onto the passing tray of a servant, "Mihai Corvini, at your service, Your Grace." His eyes are downcast briefly as he inclines his head just a little deeper before snapping into straightness of body. "Thank you for this party," he says, eyes bright as he smiles.

"The Gods ask of us many things. We do what we can in duty and pray for the forgiveness of the Gods in what we cannot do. Lord Valerio has certainly earned the favor of the gods." Eleyna says in finality. She then nods to the musicians who begin to play simple, Lycene songs for those gathered. She slants a glance at Giulio and murmurs to him before linking her arm in Ilinca's and saying softly, "As for you, my dear, I got you a gift." She then looks to Giulio and smiles disarmingly as she murmurs, "Don't worry, I got you one, too." There is a smile and a wave for Dafne and Grazia, her gaze affectionate even in the face of the Rubino Duchess' stoicism. As Mihai approached and bows, Eleyna favors him with a smile. "Well met, Lord Mihai. It is a pleasure to have you and your family here in Arx."

A laugh follows at Mihai's greeting, one arm wrapping around the man's shoulder with ease. "Ah, cousin Mihai. It is so lovely that you have come to Arx." And then, he's looking to Hadrian, head bowed. "Marquis-Consort Mazetti, House Corvini appreciates your approbation," Giulio replies. Meanwhile, Marius is moving to provide his lord and the Countess a glass of a pale, pear smelling beverage. A similar glass is offered to Eleyna, before he returns to his duties. A smile toys his lips after a moment. "And thank you all for coming. Your attendance is grately appreciated."

Garibaldi, the Lycene swordbearer arrives, following Theron.

The liquid in her glass is glanced at, swirled around, and then Enyo deposits the undrank glass somewhere before she moves from where she's been loitering to head towards Giulio and his new bride. She offers Eleyna a quick smile and an inclination of her head along with a quick, "Your Grace." Then her attention slides towards the couple of the hour, that smile widening more, "Congratulations! It's really great to see you moving up in the world and all those other sorts of crazy pleasantries. I didn't get you a gift, I'm so sorry, I'm a horrible guest. But what I can do is make it up to you both and spring for a night on the town on my silver sometime."

Vitalis has joined the benches by the fountain.

Cambria has joined the benches by the fountain.

Vitalis drifts to his cousin, at the fountain, the play of light on the waters mirroring the light in his glass, largely untouched.

Cambria, after catching Hadrian's attention, motions towards the benches by the fountains. It is to these that the Mazetti couple approach.

Hadrian has joined the benches by the fountain.

Giulio has joined the alcove by the archway.

Juliana has joined the garden benches.

As Ilinca is swept up into her cousin's arms, she lets out a soft, sudden laugh and declares, "And I see you are already well into the champagne, dear Mihai." There is not a single note of reproach in her voice; on the contrary, she sounds more than a little delighted, and most certainly amused, at his exagggerated congratulations. It's quite fortunate, though, that he soon turns to do the same to Giulio, as it leaves her free to be poached by Eleyna. Those dark green eyes of her widen a touch, disrupting their half-lidded state at the Archduchess' exclamation. "You cannot have done such a thing, Your Grace. Truly, you have already....," she trails off, leaning in to hear her words.

"I am sure he was worried," Grazia remarks to the Archduchess dryly as she sips a glass of water to stay hydrated. When she spots her co-duchess, she bows her head deeply in the woman's direction.

Richard has joined the alcove by the archway.

Derovai's attention drifts over the gathered, but he's still keeping to himself. He finds himself with a little patch of half-wall to lean against, and he slouches there, setting down his glass on the wall behind himself. For whatever reason, he's quite content to lurk.

Theron has joined the benches by the fountain.

And then, Giulio's gaze flits towards Derovai. "Master Voss, it is so good to see you," he offers, his hand flitting in a welcoming gesture to the man. "We've much to speak of."

Flashing a grin to Richard, Giulio offers a smile. "Thank you so much, Lord Wyrmguard. It is good that you came. I am pleased, though we've ill met before." He offers an extension of his hand to the man, clear to the forearm -- the traditional gesture to reveal that no dagger is present.

At the last, Giulio looks to Enyo. "Baroness de Lire. My brother held you in the greatest of esteem... and your presence is most appreciated. I do think my wife," he says, with a grin to Ilinca. "Might use a night on the town that only you could provide."

Leaning in to offer a few murmured words to Eleyna, Mihai's expression is one of joy, and gratitude. He receives a reply, and after one of his own, he bows to the Archduchess, placing a hand over his chest. "We are happy to be part of your family of a hundred cities, Your Grace."

Stepping back with another smile, he turns, and drifts over to the Duchesses of Gemecitta. "A pleasure to meet you both, Duchess Rubino, Duchess Zaffria. I see you've dressed to match; shadow and shadow. I like it. I'm Mihai Corvini." Despite how unusual it might be, he offers both Duchesses his palms, turned up.

Derovai is all smiles for Giulio, though it takes a second or two for the expression to click into place. "We do. Allow me to be the very -- well, neither first nor last -- the very middle, perhaps, to offer you congratulations. Likely forgotten in the rush. May I?" he wonders, nodding towards that alcove, apparently willing to abandon both wall and glass for the groom's location.

Eleyna has joined the alcove by the archway.

"And I him, of course." Enyo replies, her smile growing wider at that, her eyes shifting towards Ilinca, watching the newly minted Countess for a moment, her head tilting to the side. There's a thoughtful look before she laughs, shaking her head, "I'd be more than happy to take her out on the town and show her my very particular way of passing the time, whenever she might be free and interested in doing such." The last of her words are raised in such a way that she is clearly hoping to catch Ilinca's attention about that. "Would you be joining us, Count Corvini, or would you be leaving your new wife to me for dragging around?"

Juliana finds herself some place to sit, uncharacteristically quiet as she watches the reception move around her. She does watch, quietly studying the interactions between different parties as they mingle and manuver.

With his long black hair still wet, complete with hurried pace and a poor Garibaldi struggling to keep up, Theron strides in. He has to take a moment to attempt to straighten himself up. His shoulders roll, possibly to ease the burder of a baldric worn carrying not one, but two greatswords. A sharp exhale, and the man steps forth deeper into the Velenosa grounds to gain bearings. Spotting his family delegation he takes just a few steps to orbit that way to be able to bow to Cambria and Hadrian. A quick gesture that may be trying to convey he shall be a moment, and more steps takes him towards Giulio. A quick pause for a respectful bow towards Eleyna, and then he turns toc omplete closing in on Giulio. A stern look crosses his features. "I am not certain how I feel about this, little brother." He sniffs sharply and keeps the gaze upon Giulio, before his usual big smile breaks out. "Giulio! Look at you! Ah, I mean. Count *Corwin*, congratulations." He gives an appropriate-seeming bow, but there is a rather amused smile on his face.

Dafne drifts up beside Grazia just before Mihai's greeting. She regards him a moment too long with her level blue stare. "Oh," she says. "I prefer to garb myself in night, the time of silence and death, when we truly know ourselves." A beat. "On the other hand, black just looks very good on my co-ruler. A pleasure, sir."

Duarte strolls into the grounds casually. He snatches from a passing servant's tray a glass of wine and sips as it as he walks pretty intent in locating the groom and heading right for him once spotted.

Richard seems to be speaking quietly to Count Giulio himself, though as unsurprising he seems to be much more quiet. But it's really not very hard to make out that Lord Richard is talking, quite affably despite that gruff look he gives off, with the Count. Two brief smiles shown during that talk. Though it is evident the man is trained like many Oathland Knights, probably why he is so stoic and serious.

Slipping his hand into Ilinca's, Giulio steps forward of the arch. Her hand is brought to his lips. The kiss is soft, a light thing, but hardly perfunctory, before their conjoined hands fall to their sides. "It is my great honor to present my wife, Ilinca Corvini, Countess of House Corvini and Heiress. A woman of great patience and greater acceptance of my faults, for which I am most grateful. I am also grateful to my cousin, Marquessa Cambria Mazetti, for her kindness in granting me the right to help strengthen the Compact." His smile is a pleasant thing, before his gaze flits to Juliana. She gets a wink. Obviously, Derovai's not ignored, a flash of a grin. "Humility is a virtue, now and again," he calls out, moving to slap the man on the shoulder.

And then there is Theron. He releases his wifes hand, a laugh following at the man's words. "Oh brother mine. Trust my judgement. You know it's always served you well in the past." There's a back slapping for the man. "It's good to see you. I've missed you." He grins and steps back, returning to his wife.

Derovai has left the shadowy corner of the gardens.

Derovai has joined the alcove by the archway.

Ilinca has joined the alcove by the archway.

Duarte has joined the alcove by the archway.

Derovai strolls over to Giulio, in time to get slapped on the shoulder. As you do. "Not one of my virtues, I'm afraid, Count Corvini, but then again, I will admit to very few of them." He motions to Richard, a flick of one gloved hand towards the gruff fellow. "Who's your friend here? The name, I got, but the relationship, I'm afraid, very much eludes me."

"Flattery *and* humility," Ilinca replies lightly, despite the rich coating of a thick accent clinging to her words. "You are learning to husband well, my lord." The tones were not so soft that they could not plainly be heard by others, nor her smile so small a thing that it could not easily be seen -- though it most certainly was wry. Her fingers tighten around Giulio's for a moment, lacing them together into a tight weave. And then her lips purse, and her eyes shift to Enyo, to Grazia, darting between them. "I should very much like to join you, my lady. I am being told of something called a 'skirt and gown night' coming a fortnight or so from now? I have been invited to this by one of the principessas of Redrain. You will be attending, ne?" A touch hopeful, that.

"Isn't it in the silence that we truly find the answers to the questions we seek? Although some might contend we can't really get any answers in death, other than those we already knew and forgot." Mihai asks of Dafne, lifting a hand to grab himself a glass of Southern Thunder, if it's being served, and drinking from it. "I chose a different motif for myself, tonight. Generally, I would join you in the darker tones. I'm a partial for burgundy."

Richard first bows to Ilinca offering a brief smile for her "Countess Ilinca Corvini, it is an honor to meet you." When he straightens up his gaze towards Derovai, a brief smile to the man with his expression not really changing much. Though he does say, "You could say we are starting a relationship just recently." There is a hint of an affable tone there. "But you could say I do like meeting people. It is quite an interesting thing." This is said despite the fact his expression remains as unchanging as ever.

"Master Voss, what a pleasure to see you again," said as if seeing Derovai is pretty much the opposite of that. She gives Theron a nod and a warm smile before she murmurs to Ilinca and Giulio, "Excuse me, both of you? I'm going to go circulate." With her glass in hand, the Archduchess makes her way over to Juliana, smiling, "It's been a while since I've seen you out and about, Princess. I'm happy you're here today."

"I do not generally attend these 'skirt and gown nights,' unfortunately. I must disappoint. Then again, I have loaned gowns to my brother's husband, so perhaps it is more that I see no point in them. But we will have you for tea or for wine. We have an excellent selection of fine wines and liquors available at home," Grazia assures Ilinca with a polite little nod. To Mihai, she recommends, "Ask her of Death. You will hear."

"Giulio, congratulations. Again." Duarte says upon arrival to the alcove. He tips his glass in Ilinca's direction, "and to you, Countess, as well.

Jules blinks up to Eleyna as she steps close, coming to her feet, with a smile. "Your Grace, thank you. Yes, not since your ribs, I beleive? It is good to see you." Juliana glances around the garden then back. "I forget how beautiful spring can be in these gardens. I am glad that I did decided to step away from work for a while."

Derovai smiles towards Eleyna quite benevolently. "A pleasure seeing you as well, even if your husband is no doubt regretting missing the opportunity to hit me on the head again," he notes easily towards the Archduchess, before he looks back towards Richard, smiling just as briefly in return. "I did ask the Count, didn't I?" A nod towards Giulio, and he adds easily to the bridegroom, "If you will."

Richard nods briefly to Ilinca, "Ah yes. My last name is a bit of a strange one. Since long ago my house has been protecting a dragon." While he doesn't change his expression, his tone has changed drastically to one telling a joke with the most deadpan expression ever. "Of course that was probably a very poetic way to say we got the last name Wyrmguard. Who would have thought it right? Dragon Guardians. History, is anything, can be sometimes a bit... perplexing. I assure you I have yet to meet a Dragon myself. But it seemingly makes our name sound better."

"Well I suppose I could trust your judgement a little longer. I promise I will catch up with you more. Duty calls though, given the circumstances, I hope you understand?" Theron claps Giulio on the shoulder and turns to return Elyna's smile. Continuing the turn, and he waves to Enyo briefly before setting his shoulders straight to make right for the Horde of Hydra.

"I am sure that is one of the odder endorsements a duchess of the Lyceum has ever received," Dafne says to Grazia with the faintest breath of laughter in her voice. She looks back to Mihai. "Death often brings clarity, and not simply to the deceased. It is those who do not receive answers, I think, who are returned to live again. Or possibly simply those who have new questions."

"Me? No..." Enyo shakes her head at Ilinca's question, laughing, "Oh, no...no, I've never been to one of those. I've heard about them before, though. If you'd like company I'd be more than happy to join you. But I wasn't planning on going or anything, I mean." She then reaches a hand up to her chest, "I'm so, so, so sorry! I don't think I introduced myself. I'm Enyo, and welcome to the city." She flashes a quick smile before her attention is caught by the wave, and she lifts a hand to waggle her fingers towards Theron.

With a nod for Juliana, Eleyna laughs slightly. "Yes. They've healed quite nice, thank you. Of course, the moment they were healed properly, I went out to broke ribs again. Different ones that time, though. At this point, I feel like I need to have them coated in diamondplate or something." She looks over her shoulder at the wisteria, smiling fondly. "This is my favorite time of year. It's finally warm enough to see the flowers again. I always forget how much I love them until they aren't here."

Eleyna has left the alcove by the archway.

Eleyna has joined the garden benches.

At the fountain, perhaps incongruously, laughter errupts.

"Well, to receive clarity in Death seems to be only right. You've had questions in life, and in the last spark of it, you receive the answers you sought: you can finally rest." Mihai muses, flashing Grazia a smile for her words, and looking to Dafne as he listens to her. "That is definitely food for thought. Either they have new questions that need answered, or they are here to answer an old, recurring question."

Juliana arches a brow, then nods slowly. "Perhaps we should get you a personal physician at this rate?" her tone both teasing with just enough of a tisk to it to say that the Duchess pension towards broken bones was not approved. Waiting for Eleyna to sit, Juliana take her set again to fold her hands in her lap as she nods towards the gardens. "Yes, I understand. I did not realize how much the gardens of Pravus meant to me until such time as they were not something I saw every day."

13 King's Own Guardsmen, Zelda, the royal messenger arrive, following Alaric.

Ilinca's brows lift Richard's reply. Scandalized? Already? No; simple curiosity. "I do not think I would be recommending such an introduction, Lord Wyrmguard. Unless it is from very, very far away. And preferably behind a very thick wall." Her head shakes, and a note of disappointment creeps into her voice at the revelations from Enyo and from Grazia. "Are they such unpopular things? Ahhh, more the fool I am, then. I had thought it a fine invitation. Even so, I would be very pleased for the company -- there, or at an evening of your entertainments, Baronessa, or of your fine wines, Duchessa. I am finding the offerings in the city to be sweet, sweet things, but I cannot have tried so very many already."

Richard smiles briefly at Ilinca, "I appreciate the advice Countess."

:grinning to Ilinca as he returns, he says, "One tries not to be a slow learner." He glances towards those others present, before, leaning in to kiss his wife. Fuck propriety, the Corvini count says. Of course, its still a little thing, before he returns to the party. Richard gets a very, very faint raised brow. "Indeed," he remarks. The Archduchess receives a smile... and then he's looking to Ilinca and Grazia. "Oh... do go share some time, please. I think you would find much of interest," he notes... before stepping towards Duarte.

One hand slaps the man's shoulders and he squeezes once. "Count Amadeo. So good to see you. Lets get drunk in a bit." He is looking to Derovai, nodding once. There is something... amused to his smile. "New acquaintances, I'm sure." Those eyes flit to Juliana next. "Ah, Lady Pravus, so lovely to see you. Marius, do see that the woman is given a drink." And the man is flitting off to provide Juliana with a glass of Southern Thunder.

"You are probably right, all things considered. Maybe some proper chest armor as well," Eleyna adds with a lift of her brows and a wry smile of her own. She nods to Juliana's words and smiles faintly, "The gardens in Lenosia are beautiful this time of year, too. It's strange to how I can spend most of my time living in Arx and yet it still doesn't really feel like -home-."

"Unpopular? Not at all, Countess." Enyo shakes her head, smiling a little wider at that, one hand raising up to rub slightly at her chin, "It's a very fine offer, and I think they are popular enough. But I can't say that I've found they really appeal to me, but that might just be because I've never gone to one and I'm making a terrible judgment about something I don't know anything about." She glances at Richard for a split second, then towards Giulio again before her attention drifts between Grazia and Ilinca.

"Or Death decided they would fit," says Dafne, reaching over to a server's tray to take a glass of champagne. "After all, we can speculate, but we cannot truly know her mind."

Hadrian is overheard praising Eleyna: Ever the charming hostess.

Alessia is overheard praising Eleyna: What a wonderful reception she put together.

Richard lets out a small breath of air. "Hm. Jesting is definitely not my thing." He bows to those present "Apologies, I wasn't attempting to make anyone bothered with the story of our House."

Kissing the cheek of his wife, Giulio meanders to join his former family for a moment.

Giulio has left the alcove by the archway.

Giulio has joined the alcove by the archway.

Giulio has left the alcove by the archway.

Giulio has joined the benches by the fountain.

Alaric rolls in admist his usual humongous retinue, smiling and waving to all inbound gestures of deference and such. First things first; find and greet the hosts! Well, the actual first thing first happens as he comes across a passing tray of champagne and snags one. First things second, he proceeds along to the next biggest group of guards and approaches Eleyna. "Archduchess Eleyna, delightful to see you tonight," he declares regally. "And Lady Juliana, hello again as well. Very sorry I couldn't arrive sooner, but official duties delay, as they do." He glances around. "I take it the Count and Countess of the hour have been thoroughly surrounded by well-wishers by now?"

Alaric has joined the garden benches.

Derovai flashes teeth in what could be a smile towards Giulio. If you were feeling particularly charitable, that is, and read good humor into the expression that simply isn't there. At least it doesn't seem to be directed at Giulio, and the expression drops after a moment or two. He bows towards the Count, but his attention's on Ilinca, as he waits for a response to something said over at the archway.

Juliana's answer is delayed at the greeting from Giulio, her blue gaze lifting to him with a softer smile and nod. "Count Corvini, my congratulations to you and your lovely wife. I am glad I came thank you." Though the glass is taken with a smile and nod of thanks, it settles in her lap hands wrapped around it before she turns back to the ArchDuchess with a nod of understanding. "How could this city compare to the beaches of Setarco, no?" smiles softly then takes a deeper breath. "I miss my mother, which is odd since when we are together, we do nothing but argue." chuckles then blinks up to Alaric, coming to a stand as he arrives. "Your Majesty, it is a pleasure to see you again."

Giulio has left the benches by the fountain.

Giulio has joined the alcove by the archway.

Stepping away from the benches, Giulio offers a bow towards the king, before collecting the hand of his wife, Ilinca. "Your Majesty," he offers to the man -- and his contingent, a bow of his head coming -- followed at the waist from the man.

Eleyna, with an empathetic expression on her face, reaches out to gently squeeze Juliana's shoulder before the Archduchess then rises from the bench and dips into a curtsy for Alaric, responding with a little smile on her face, "Your majesty, thank you for joining us. Official duties often make me fashionably late as well, so I completely understand." She glances toward Giulio and Ilinca, fondness in her eyes, before she looks again to the King. "Yes, the happy couple have been thoroughly congratulated, but I think they could stomach one or two more despite it if you are willing to take the chance."

"If you would like to go, take up the Redrain princess's invitation. We are a Compact, after all, and have been for hundreds of years, even if your family is more recently joining us, a very wise and thoughtful decision on your part," Grazia offers to Ilinca pleasantly, but without really much trace of emotion in her words. Stocism seems to be her style; she is a serious type.

The kiss was an unexpected, though not unwelcome, thing and she smiles lightly in reply. "I am told that you may wear trousers, Baronessa, despite the words on the invitation," Ilinca reassures, with a little sip of her champagne. "Though I was warned of 'consequences' for doing so." This, added on in a whisper, as though she were sharing a secret. And then she shakes her head to Richard, a few wisps of her dark hair straying from the confines of her coiffeur. "It is no offense, my lord. Only a curious thing. You say you have never met one and yet--," she cuts out, as a series of bows and greetings begin to circle around the room with the word 'Majesty' following. For one quicksilver flash of a second, her eyes scan the crowd, as though she were expecting another one of the Gala's games, and not the King.

"Or that." Mihai concedes, drinking a sip from the moonshine that is Giulio's trademark as he speaks with Dafne. "I suppose that's a bridge we cross when we get to it." Offering a bow towards the King, as is proper, the courtier looks back to the Duchess of Zaffria. "Do you yearn for it? Or do you admire the transient nature of your life?"

Derovai calls over to Eleyna, "Make sure my congratulations are right in the middle, please, Archduchess, Your Highness. I did suggest it very nicely." But he's still waiting on Ilinca, as propriety demands, even if his smile grows slightly strained. He adds something more quietly to Ilinca before he's slipping from the alcove as well.

Alessia steadily rises, taking her cup with her as she leaves the benches to approach the King and the esteemed hostess. Curtsying, with one hand on her dress, she beams at Alaric. "Your majesty. It's wonderful that you have graced this event with your presence." Turning to the Eleyna, her smile remains. "Archduchess, thank you for putting all of this together."

"Really, you should go if you really want. We can go with you. I can." Enyo offers to Ilinca, smiling at her before her attention drifts towards the arrival of the King. She leans towards Ilinca, lowering her voice some, "He's really nice, don't let the whole king thing throw you off."

Richard performs his customary bow to the king, Alaric, "Your Highness." Followed by him saying to Ilinca, "Count Ilinca, I wish you the very best." Then he moves out of the alcove to let family and closer friends be there. That was not really his place. He just wanted to congratulate the couple.

Richard has left the alcove by the archway.

Derovai has left the alcove by the archway.

Derovai has joined the benches by the fountain.

Alessia has left the benches by the fountain.

Alessia has joined the garden benches.

sets his untouched chamgpagne on the sill of the fountain, tugs his tunic straight and with a bow to those gathered, heads toward the garden benches.

"Indeed! And here they are," Alaric observes to Eleyna. "Excuse me," he concludes as he closes the distance to Guilio and Ilinca with a few energetic strides. "Count Guilio, Countess Ilinca, my congratulations. Allow me to convey the Crown's greatest confidence that House Corvini will grow and prosper under your reign." He takes a drink of champagne, and having gone to give his well wishes to the party people now finds himself in the center of attention as well and starts dispensing smiles and royal waves. "Thank you, thank you," he declares before grinning at Guilio and Ilinca. "I'd best hurry this up before I end up stealing your thunder, hm?" he quips.

Vitalis has left the benches by the fountain.

Vitalis has joined the garden benches.

After wishing the best to the couple, bowing to King Alaric, then to Archduchess Eleyna, then to the others as the austere man leaves the place while wishing the very best to the new happy couple.

Kace shows up late to the party, and wearing travelling clothes rather than party clothes. But she's clean and not swinging a weapon around and looking for people she knows. Spotting someone in the form of Eleyna, she heads in that direction, pausing only to offer a quick bow to Alaric before continuing on her way. Approaching the Archduchess, she inclines her head towards the woman and offers, "Its been a few years, hasn't it?"

Derovai strolls over to the fountain benches, quite clearly working out some reserve annoyance. He murmurs something quietly to the bench, his voice flat and unamused.

Yes, it seems it really is the King. For a brief moment, the bride is rendered utterly speechless, simply fluttering her lashes at their prestigious royal guest. But then Ilinca's expression brightens and she offers a sly smile in answer to Alaric. "There is no need to steal it, Your Majesty. I will have a case for you, sent to the Palace, with our thanks." And then she sinks into a curtsy, her head bowing in accompaniment to her genuflection.

Dafne blinks at Mihai. "Why would one long for death where life is so interesting?" she asks. "Death will come when she wills."

There is a deep bow from Giulio towards Alaric. His hand seeks Ilinca's then, his grin settling slightly. Looking to Alaric, he says, "Your Majesty, approbation of a royal nature is most... helpful with matters," his smile amused. "I hardly think you could steal our thunder with such." His head bowing towards the man. A chuckle is offered to Ilinca at her statement, his head bowing a little bit. "Indeed. Shall I offer a sample of our thunder first?" he inquires.

:dips her head to Alessia, grinning as she responds, "It is my pleasure, Lady Alessia." She watches the King wander away with bemusement on her face, brows lifted as she watches things unfold. It's while she's in this state that Kace approaches and, with a few simple words, has the Archduchess rising and regarding the Redrain woman in surprise, "Kace? Yes, it's been far too many years." Eleyna is grinning, looking over Kace. "You look good. My goodness. I can't believe you're actually here."

Juliana smiles at Eleyna's empathy, nodding her thanks and standing quietly as the ArchDuchess greets the King. THen chuckles softly as he disappears toward the couple of the hour. Blue gaze slipping toward Eleyna with a slight hitch to her brow and returns to the prior subject. "But there are other reasons that Sebastian and I have not been around as much. And I do appologize for that, my Lady."

"For art. Though life is a gift, in suffering we find some of the purest expressions of beauty and virtue. It is strange, isn't it? In a state of comfort, we can't really change. It is only when we're tested, pushed to our very boundaries that we find growth." Mihai explains that viewpoint to Dafne, but he nods. "She comes when she wills. And besides, life," the lord sips from his cup, "is meant to be enjoyed."

Kace lets her stern features crack into a warm smile for Eleyna, giving a nod, "Thank you, Your Highness. You're looking amazing yourself. I think you've actually gotten younger. This new husband of yours suits you." Stepping in, she offers a hug to Eleyna, murmuring after, "Tomas would have taken me out to the sparring ring and whipped my ass if I didn't come by and see you. The boys are eager to meet you as well, I don't know that you've seen them since.. was it Anze's wedding?" Stepping back, she looks to Juliana and nods, "My apologies, I didn't mean to interrupt."

"A case! That's quite generous of you. I daresay I'll find a use for -that-," Alaric replies to Ilinca, obviously pleased as he nods decisively to Giulio. "I'm certain it will be excellent sight unseen, but indeed I'd love a sample, Count Giulio. If only to avoid any stray rumors of excessive royal, ah, commandering incidents."

With a chuckle, Giulio has Marius bring him a goblet of beaten brass. "My personal cup," he offers to Alaric. There is the scent of spiced pears lofting from it. He takes a long draught, first, closing his eyes and swallowing, head rising to make the gesture quite apparent -- how very Lycene of him. Then the brass cup is offered to Alaric, still three-quarters filled.

Hadrian rises up from the bench near the fountain with a low yawn and a stretch before he turns about and extends a hand toward Cambria. When she takes the hand and rises up, the pair linger for a moment while the Marquessa speaks with those who remain at the bench around the fountain. Hadrian is left batting his eyes, the look of someone trying to stave off the threat of fatigue.

Hadrian has left the benches by the fountain.

In the face of such accusations, my King, I suggest pardoning yourself. There is benefit to being the Crown, ne?," Ilinca asks, her head canting to one side as her sly smiles softens into something gentler. Curious, as she waits for Alaric's opinion of the drink.

Juliana stands quietly as Vitalis and Kace both join, keeping back just a little to allow them to have their greetings without feeling as if they are intruding. Which is exactly what she says with the smile and small shake of her head to Kace. "Of course not your Highness. The ArchDuchess and I were simply catching up."

Alessia quietly sips her rum as she glances around her, smiling as her cousins return to the main event. She inclines her head as she turns to the bride. "You look beautiful, Countess. I apologise for not approaching earlier, it's great to see my cousin so happy."

Alaric checked composure + survival at difficulty 20, rolling 7 higher.

Eleyna exchanges a few murmured words with Juliana. As Kace hugs her, Eleyna returns to gesture as well as the typical Lycene kiss upon each cheek. "You should bring them by to meet my brood. They're younger that your lot, but I'm sure the whole bunch can find trouble enough to get into. Gods, but it is good to see you. I'm sorry that I didn't write more after Stormwall, but I lost Serafine in Setarco." The shadow that flits over her expression before she takes a breath and glances to Juliana, "Lady Juliana Pravus, I'd love to introduce you to Princess Kace Redrain. She was married to my cousin, Tomas."

At Hadrian's side, Cambria exchanges a few words with the people formerly sharing the bench with her. As the couple prepare to depart, Cambria makes sure to stop by Giulio once more, in order to give him and his wife their farewells.

Theron has left the benches by the fountain.

Alaric is given a beaten-up brass cup, obviously a veteran of many a gathering. With the ceremonial Lycene this-won't-kill-you-instantly demonstration out of the way, he lifts it and has a similarly healthy swig. His eyes close and he licks his lips before that kick settles in. His hand grips the cup a lot tighter and he gets a bit of a wolfish grin, but his eyes eventually open back up and he lets out a breath. "Pears, no?" he inquires, his voice a little raw. "That's got a nice solid kick to it, Count Giulio. I like it," he declares approvingly.

Cambria has left the benches by the fountain.

Luigi, 5 House Mazetti Guardians, Mario leave, following Hadrian.

5 House Mazetti Guardians, Possum, Hadrian leave, following Cambria.

Derovai takes the opportunity to beckon over a messenger. A quiet word and a few sentences later, he's back to the party. "Ah, Count Corvini, don't tell me we're having a drinking contest. Need an entrant to challenge the King? If you'll permit it, Your Majesty." A bright smile follows the offer.

Vitalis has left the garden benches.

"Thank you, your Majesty," Giulio replies, his lips settling in a smile. "My brewmaster managed to weld Northern strength with Lycene subtlety that, I feel, is well worth his weight in gold. I am hoping Master Tiazza will be joining us soon. A few other interesting liquors of a similar ilk are like to come with." A grin replies, as he looks to Derovai. "I'm sure it can be arranged as the night goes on." His lips twist in the faintest hint of a smile.

"Its perfectly alright, Eleyna. Gods and Spirits both know I was hardly the best penpal after I lost Tomas at Stormwall. When Drea started trying to suggest 'potential matches' for me, I knew it was time to rejoin the worl.d The boys needed to get back around more of their family, too. We got to see Mydas and Jaenelle the other day. Mydas is looking.. much better." Kace responds with a slow smile, the expression perhaps fitting strangely on her face, but then, grief is a hell of a thing. She nods to Juliana and murmurs, "As am I. But thank you." Looking back to Eleyna, she nods, "The boys would -love- that. They're already asking to spend the winter in Lenosia. They want to meet the rest of the Velenosa side of their family. If you don't mind, I certainly wouldn't. Its good they get to know Tomas' side of the family."

"He has lingered in Iasu, to make a survey of our traditional liquors," Ilinca explains. "Or so he calls it. I am suspecting his 'survey' mostly involves drinking as much of them as the innkeepers will allow before they lose patience. But I will convey your kindness to him when he returns. It will mean even more, coming from another artist, and so a man of fine taste."

2 House Velenosa Guards, Benvolio, a beleaguered valet arrive, following Berenice.

2 House Velenosa Guards, Benvolio, a beleaguered valet leave, following Berenice.

Juliana smiles to Kace as the introductions are made. Though not until a small nod of understanding is given to Eleyna at the soft exchange. Though the mention of Serafine as an effect on the woman, almost a haunted shadow passing across her eyes before she plasters that smile on her lips and nods. "It is a pleasure to make your aquaintance your Highness. I have been met so very few of your house in my years in Arx."

"Ah, Master Derovai, good evening," Alaric declares as he hands the cup back to Giulio with an appreciative nod. "As far as the contest goes, I concede immediately. I've got some things to do after this reception that really ought to have a clear head," he explains with a bit of a can't-be-helped shrug. "Somewhat unsporting, I know, but regrettably I seem to have become a halfway responsible monarch somewhere along the way." He smiles to Giulio and Ilinca. "Sounds like a man who has managed to combine his profession and his passion. I'll have to find an excuse for a 'survey' trip of my own someday."

Making his way from the fountain benches towards the garden benches, Theron slows upon approach. His eyes look towards Alessia first, and then fixate upon young Vitalis with a faint look of concern. A slow exhale and then his brother's voice floating among the crowd to the Crown gains his attention. Once again ioncliding his head to Eleyna and Alessia with a smile. He takes a moment to bow towards the Alaric. "Your Majesty." Then there is a glance spared his Brother. "In my haste to perform some of my overdue duties, I accidentally missed out on missing your wife! Apologies, Giulio. I really did not mean to do that."

Derovai checked composure + survival at difficulty 20, rolling 25 higher.

There is solace in togetherness. Strength in family and oaths. But need for solitude as well. Vitalis, navigates a final round of courtesies and makes his way from the grounds.

"You know Mydas. He always lands on his feet, but it is good to see him in better spirits. After Freja..." Eleyna shrugs, letting those words linger just a moment before she pushes past them, "The boy are more than welcome to come to Lenosia. We want to get to know them, too. In times like these, family is important. Besides, they'll be old enough soon to introduce to wine properly and I'll be damned if they become whisky drinkers with no palate for a good Lenosian red." The Archduchess sniffs before giving Kace a teasing smile. Eleyna catches Theron's look and gives him a friendly little wave before looking to her companions once more.

Derovai's brows lift, just slightly, at Alaric. He turns back to an attendant near Giulio. "Pear wine, please." And he downs the cup without missing a drop, a long swig that empties the entire glass. His eyes stay open. "As you wish, Your Majesty. Any time you want a challenge, you know where to find me." His voice is smoother, if not /entirely/ smooth. "Did you hang that painting above the chamberpot, then, Your Majesty, or did your works get the hall I suggested?"

"Lord Theron," Grazia says slowly, studying the man as he approaches. "I'm sure your new sister-in-law appreciates your welcome. She and I have been chatting. She's quite the lovely woman."

"Diligence, love. Diligence," Giulio replies to Ilinca, one corner of his mouth settling in a faint smile. "I mean, you're not wrong, but, lets paint it carefully." And then Giulio pauses, before raising his glass. "To friends. To family. To hopes and honors and dreams. And to the Compact. May all these things ever prove themselves true." There's a dark irony in Giulio's tone... and then, he takes a long swallow of the pear-scented liquour. He glances to Theron, head tilting. "A correctable issue, brother. Haste does many things." His gaze flits towards Vitalis, his head bowing slightly.

His lips twist the smallest bit, as he is looking back to Alaric. "Do let me know the nature of what you would wish to enjoy -- I am certain that the appropriately luxurious endeavor might be made."

Enyo rocks her weight back on her heels, hands folding back behind her back as she listens to the others talk for the moment. When Theron turns up again she glances at him, offering him a grin, "Theron."

Ilinca slips her hand into the crook of her husband's arm, fingers curling into the dark fabric of his sleeve. "Our own chambers are yours, Majesty, if you ever choose to make the long journey to Iasu. And I will be doing all I can to ensure that your royal duties are very few, and include many excuses for celebrations to add to the survey." And then she falls silent, in favor of another toast. They do seem to be popular things at weddings, don't they?

Alessia politely makes the rounds, greeting some guests, thanking them for joining their celebrations. She appears melancholy at Giulio's words and returns to the benches by the fountain where her bottle of rum remains.

Alessia has left the garden benches.

Alessia has joined the benches by the fountain.

"Yes, I remember. He went to a dark place after Freja's death. It wasn't healthy. I'm so glad to see him recovering. And with a baby on the way!" Kace smiles, genuinely happy for her brother-in-law as she speaks to Eleyna. She draws in a deep breath and lets it out again, "Good. Braden and Ciaran have been begging to go to Lenosia. They've both decided they want to be bladesmen, like Tomas. I think that's where they intend to start learning. I don't mind, I think it will be good for them to feel more connected to their father." She chuckles and shakes her head, "You're too late. Drea gave them both whiskey at the last Winter Solstice. Just a sip. But. Its only fair that you be allowed to show them wine. Tomas managed to get me to drink it, so I don't see why they shouldn't too."

Alaric smiles to Theron. "Lord Theron, good to see you tonight. It's a proud day for House Mazetti," he replies before laughing apologetically to Derovai. "It's still in my studio, alas. Sometimes you have a painting that you just can't stop tinkering with. If I were a better painter, I'd probably know why it doesn't seem finished to me yet, but I'm not, so here I am, still messing about with the details." He regards the Count and Countess and joins in the toast with his champagne glass. "It's a very gracious invitation, thank you both very much. I'm certainly intending to make more tours around the Compact once things settle down for... well, the first time in several years," he observes dryly.

"Fitting, Your Majesty. People usually can't figure me out, so I suppose that stands to reason. When you've got it done, I'd like to see it, hm?" Derovai's smile is wry, amused at Alaric's comments. "Make sure it's not too colorful. We'd hate anyone to believe that I owned clothes in hues other than black. Do excuse me, if you will? The night's still young, and as much as I like self-analysis..." His grin warms, just a touch, and he bows deeply at the king, before stepping back slightly, miming the raise of an invisible glass for a toast as he moves to fade into the milling crowd once more.

There is another look over at Vitalis, and noting the young man making departure rounds, Theron frowns briefly but nods to himself. At Alessia slipping by, he reaches out to briefly and gently clasp her shoulder. Then he looks back towards the group as his brain finally processes another voice. "Duchess Rubino- I. Grazia. You're looking well. I will need to steal her away from you briefly in a moment." Giulio's toast makes him act hastily again, and snag a random passing drink to hold up in salute. "I hate to admit it. But I think at least one of the family did such." He drains the glass and makes a bit of a face. "Oh that was not wine, oof." To the King Theron does allow himself a look of pride. "Yes it is, my brother has done well indeed. Thank you for noticing."

Eleyna laughs then and murmurs, "You know, if they want to be bladesmen in the Lenosian style, I could have Talen teach them a few things. He might actually enjoy it. He keeps trying to put a blade in our son's hand. Donato isn't even three yet." She slightly rolls her eyes and then says with a grin, "I'm glad that the boys are interested in the Lycene culture as well. We could show them where Tomas grew up, all the things that Tomas enjoyed as a boy." There is something wistful about her tone as she adds, "Serafine would have been the better teacher. She was the one that used to train with Tomas when he was young. I imagine they are together in the Shining Lands, sparring together once again."

After a few quiet words with Eleyna, Juliana slips away from where the Duchess and King are lingering, working her way out of the gardens. Not however before she manages to slip past Duarte just long enough to tug at a long of dark hair and continue on.

Juliana has left the garden benches.

"Steal her away then, Theron. I shall almost certainly steal her back later," Grazia replies to the Mazetti lord with a small, private smile and a thoughtful look in her whiskey-hued eyes. She glances pensively to Giulio, nodding once.

Ilinca exhales a soft sigh. "As duty permits, Your Majesty, should it ever do so. I am very honored, that in the face of so many, you have made time to join us this evening. It is a very fine welcome for Corvini back into the arms of the Compact, and the embrace of the Lyceum."

Kace lifts a brow and shakes her head with a grin, "Somehow I'm not surprised. But of course, I'm sure the boys would be head over heels for that! They've been trying to catch all the 'famous' warriors in Redrain that they can.. but they really want to train like Tomas did." Her grin fades and disappears at mention of Serafine, the grief showing briefly as she nods, "It seems so inadequate to say I'm sorry.. but I am sorry for your loss. Serafine.. Tomas never knew. They both died.. so close together. I like to think they're sparring right now and having a grand time of it." She smiles faintly, then blinks.

"Your Majesty." Enyo finally pipes up, offering her own greeting to Alaric, "A pleasure as always to see you." She doesn't interupt for long, though, just offering a quick hello and how are you before she takes a half step to one side to make room for others as they join the group.

A gentle kiss is placed towards Ilinca's knuckles and Giulio leans in to murmur something to her, before he's releasing her hand. "A moment, dearest wife." There's something of a smile on his lips, before he is stepping off a moment. A whispered set of words are offered Alessia, a bow to Alaric, though his smile is a sardonic thing. He's sliding to Eleyna, a passing whisper offered. Then Derovai and Enyo, each receive briefly whispered words. A grin toys his lips and he offers another to Grazia, before stepping over to Juliana. "Lady Pravus, I am most pleased you came. We should speak further." One eyelid shivers in a wink and then he is slipping to Eleyan and Kace.

Alaric smiles to Derovai. "Of course. I'm a realist painter, after all," he proclaims confidently. "A good evening to you." He turns to Ilinca. "I look forward to building a better future for Arvum together with you. And to introducing Southern Thunder into the event spirits rotation at the Palace," he notes affably. "It's been a pleasure to welcome back House Corvini tonight. A fine evening to the both of you." He gives Enyo a nod. "Ah, Baroness Enyo, hello there. How has Fen De Lire been?"

"Sometimes, I think it's best that Serafine never knew what happened." Eleyna takes a breath and forces a smile as she reaches out to squeeze Kace's arm. "Talen will see the boys taught in the Lycene style. I suppose Marian will help teach them her own style. That will be an interesting combination. I'm not sure anyone will be able to best them." As Giulio comes close, Eleyna smiles and turns to make introductions, "Princess Kace Redrain, this is Count Giulio Corvini, whose marriage we are celebrating today. Count Giulio, Princess Kace was married to my cousin Tomas, so she's basically a member of the family."

"Enyo!" Exclaims Theron with a surprise smile. "I'm sorry, I was woolgathering. We've got to catch up! Though first I need to take Grazia up on her gracious offer." He performs a brief bow towards Grazia with a warm smile, and executes a sharp turn in place towards Ilinca. "Countess Corvini, a pleasure to finally formally meet you. Granted, much later than I had intended." Another executed bow of his head and Theron practically beams at her. He does a quick look around, as if looking for Giulio, spotting him over yonder means Theron turning back to Ilinca. "That said, be honest. What maddening traits of his have you discovered already?"

Tyce the gruff and disapproving leaves, following Juliana.

"It's been entertaining and interesting, Your Majesty...I can't say as I expect many dull moments in my future. All the excitement, but that's great...Better than being bored, right?" Enyo replies with a quick grin, shaking her head, "How have you been, Your Majesty? Getting much time to do your paintings?" She then shoots an amused look at Theron, "Any time. I'm sure that you know how to find me when you manage to get a free moment or two."

Derovai stares at whatever Giulio had whispered to him, but he shakes his head, stepping back as Alaric takes his leave as well. He downs another glass of that pear liquor, as if proving a further point, and starts to meander towards the exit in the matter of a few more moments.

"GOds... yes, I can't imagine if Tomas had found out before.." Kace places her hand on top of Eleyna's and squeezes back. She draws in a breath and smiles towards the Archduchess, "Perfect. They'll be ecstatic. And yes, I'm sure that Marian will be showing them her own training techniques as well. By the time those boys reach their majority, they'll be true terrors. Especially if they stick together." Looking to Giulio, Kace offers a small bow, "Count Giulio, congratulations on your wedding and your County."

A faint nod is Ilinca's only reply to whatever it was that Giulio had said to her, followed by a lingering look as he slips away. Ahhh, and the King as well, though his departure is met with a low genuflection. Thus, in a moment of quiet reprieve, she turns to catch sight of Marius, and finally request a glass of her own. A fortunate thing that it hasn't yet found its way into her hands when Theron approaches, and she parts her lips to reply when the last of his words sink in. Heavy lashes flutter over her sea-green eyes at his question and she pauses, her words a fair bit less than bubbling or gracious. "I... do you mean, of my husband's?" Her gaze darts from Theron to where she last saw Giulio in the crowd.

Theron has joined the alcove by the archway.

Derovai has left the benches by the fountain.

Grazia has joined the alcove by the archway.

Giulio is overheard praising Corvini: My house, my beloved home.

Alaric exhales lightly. "Not as much as I'd like," he reports to Enyo. "I'm terribly behind and have got a serious backlog to deal with. But other than that, the twins are well, all's been calm at the Palace. Losing Barric's been a blow for certain, but I've taken some comfort that he did so doing what he felt to be his duty." He smiles a bit distractedly as another messenger arrives and he scans the text quickly. "Ah, if you'll excuse me. As ever, duties require me to move along to the next event, it would seem."

"Absolutely!" Confirms Theron to Enyo. Then there is a quick look back to Ilinca and he slaps a hand to his head to lean in and speak once again.

"It was a pleasure to have your company as always, Your Majesty," Grazia offers politely before falling silent once more, lingering near Ilinca in a somewhat supportive sort of way.

"For now, I should go check on my brood. It's so good to see you, Kace. You should come to dinner sometime. Giulio, congratulations again." Eleyna presses the typical Lycene kiss to Kace's cheek and then Giulio's before she addresses the crowd, "Thank you all for coming. Feel free to continue to enjoy the champagne and treats." The Archduchess nods to a nearby steward before she makes her way through the gardens and off.

"I am not sure life is _meant_ to be enjoyed," says Dafne. "I think it is meant for many things, and enjoyment is one of the side benefits." She takes a sip of champagne. "But if you would excuse me--I am afraid business calls."

Giulio is overheard praising Amadeo: 1

Theron is overheard praising Eleyna: Hosting a great reception for Giulio!
