I shall now commit to the Archives for all time an account of the Great Snowball Battle of 1009.

On the field were assembled Compact citizens of all stripes by the good Amanda Whisper, to do honorable snow combat for the glory of the Crown. The teams were assembled. I was chosen to fight beside our steadfast leaders, Princess Tikva Grayson and the peerless Captain Tiber Riven. By my side was Aleksei Morgan and the ADORABLE Fitz, Master Waldemai, Sir Jeffeth, Lady Lethe, and Master Jonathan. We faced off against our fearsome opponents led by Dame Felicia of the King's Own, and represented by Count Artorius, Prince Niklas, Lord Geralt, Lady Azova, and Master Ven. All who held the field this day shall be remembered in the halls of history.

We faced off against each other and the battle was fierce. Balls of snow flew this and way that with the speed of the fiercest arrows and strength of battering rams. It was a long and valiant struggle that Dame Felicia's team gave us. But, in the end, our side was victorious, and we claimed the...snow.

Let the bards write songs of our valor and stamina against the cold.

I shall be back next year, if it's held again. This was entirely fun.

It is time for the festivities to begin, and people from all across Arx have gathered. There are tents to warm up in, braziers to warm up near, hot food and drinks to warm up with. Warmth! Because, otherwise, there's just a lot of cold and snow. And if anyone is measuring, it looks like snow has been brought here from elsewhere, and small snow-forts have been prebuilt. Amongst the bustle is Amanda Whisper, dressed in dove gray wool trimmed in white fur. "Good evening everyone!" she addresses the revelers.

Waldemai stomps the snow off his boots. "Evenin'" he calls back.

Sandra The Chicken, Saga, a juvenile Oakhaven bloodhound arrive, following Jonathan.

Esoka is here for the fighting. With snow. Her own leather and fur cloak is done up snug around her shoulders as she bustles in, bronze-skinned nose a little red from the cold. "Evening!" she yells. At Amanda and everyone.

Tikva is here, kitted out in warm knits and the dramatic sweep of her inquisitorial greatcoat with its music note buttons. She has a small figure with her, in layers of clothing, curls buried in a knit cap and hands occluded by mittens to the point where it's difficult to tell whether he is a small child or in fact a mobile pile of laundry. Tikva hollers a cheery, "Evening," though.

Geralt's been here for a bit, standing near a pile of snow and occassionally nudging it with the toe of his boot. Wearing a light linen shirt and plain trousers, he does not look like a man who is dressed for the weather, and yet he looks perfectly comfortable. His bistre eyes track Amanda as she appears, following her for a moment, before his voice bellows out, "'Evenin'."

Jonathan enters the place with a somewhat amused look on his face, a bright wave to all and sundry, and a loud "evening, My Lords, Ladies, Highnesses, and the rest!" As he hums to himself, moving toward wherever things look the most interesting.

Lethe seems eager to be here has she looks around. She waves to Amanda. "Good evening!"

Aneka, 3 Iron Guardsmen, Meeka arrive, following Merek.

Aneka, 3 Iron Guardsmen, Meeka leave, following Merek.

Aneka, 3 Iron Guardsmen, Meeka arrive, following Merek.

Merek has come with his cloak on and hood up. He seems to be here to watch for the time being. He moves towards the side, and observes as the people come and go, looking towards the snow which is around.

Ven arrives casually juggling two packed snowballs with one hand as he walks, surveying the production. More than he expected! Sabella and Niklas get nods and he wanders over in their direction. "Weather too cold for Steve, today?" He asks Niklas.

Azova joins in the calls of "Good Evening," her cheeks and nose already red from the cold, a big smile on her face. Snowball fight! She hasn't been in a snowball fight in YEARS!

Aleksei is bundled up in a duster that looks like it's been in the back of his closet for the last several years he was a part of the Faith. Like Tikva, he also comes accompanied by a much smaller human, this one dressed in a rather impeccably tailored coat of pure black fur of some sort. The small child's hand is in Aleksei's, and he studies the snowfall and forts set up with wide, grey-blue eyes. "It cold," the toddler tells Aleksei. "Yeah, it does that here," Aleksei tells him. His gaze catches on Tikva and Esoka with a helpless, nervous sort of smile, and then on Amanda a bit more self-consciously.

Niklas comes a-walking in flanked by Sabella and Jeffeth, though only one of them is on his arm. And that's Sabella. Not today, fanfic writers! "...came in second in the last snowball war, so if they allow teams this time I think we're sure to win. Now we know everyone's weaknesses AND you have battered Caspian twice, destroying his confidence and sense of pride in himself." He offers a wave to Ven as the merchant approaches. "Ahoy, Master Ven. Yes, I'm afraid Steve does not care for this weather. I think she's found some hot spring somewhere for the winter. Possibly at the Navegant redoubt? Lady Estil does send me the occasional incoherent letter covered in feathers and torn about the edges, but if you've ever met Estil that could really just be her. Wound a bit tightly if you know what I mean. And I mean she's wound a bit tightly." As they approach the site of the battle to come, Niklas reaches up and takes off his cornet. "I probably should have left this at home. Ah well, it's beautiful, I'm beautiful, we'll shine in everyone's eyes and no one shall hit me."

Artorius arrives, following Felicia.

Amanda waits a spell, for people to find hot drinks and food and whatever else they may want to do. Then she's standing up again, addressing the gathering. "Thank you all for coming out on this brisk evening! Hopefully it's one of the last we have before spring springs," she says, with a warm smile. "My name is Amanda Whisper, and I have been appointed Royal Event Coordinator. I've been tasked by His Majesty to share revelry and joy with you all! Regretfully, His Majesty will not be able to attend. I'm told he has a very important job, himself." There's a smirk. That's a joke! "Now then, tonight's event is a snowball fight! Which makes it doubly sad that King Alaric is not here. Though I can't say I'm not glad to avoid the /talking to/ I might receive from the King's Own." Beat. "So, then, if you interested in joining in the fun, do please come join me over here! ... And no snowballs yet!"

Waldemai drops the snowball he's been packing into a tiny ball of ice behind his back and heads over.

Waldemai has joined the line.

Lethe has joined the line.

Azova has joined the line.

Geralt's gaze shifts towards Niklas when the man starts taking off his coronet. There is a smirk, and the large man folds his arms over his chest. "Should leave that thing on," he shouts over to the man, "It'll be good target practice." And then there is a deep laugh.

Geralt has joined the line.

Jonathan has joined the line.

Jeffeth has joined the line.

Azova chugs a cup of hot chocolate-- gotta warm up beforehand!-- and hops in line!

Niklas has joined the line.

Felicia has joined the line.

"TIBER!" Esoka yells brightly at Tikva's mobile clothing pile of a child. Bustling over toward the Grayson princess and her spawn. "Hello, Tikva. Gods, it's good to see you. Particularly in a place where we get to throw things. Is he old enough to throw things yet?" She points to Tiber, sounding rather eager at his throwing potential. Aleksei is spotted. He's looked over, with what might be a concerned eye, but the smile is returned with warmth. And she just /beams/ at his child. "Bl..." Pause. "Si..." Maybe not either? Finally just, "Hello, Aleksei." Half an eye is on Amanda as she gets this thing underway, of course, when Esoka isn't shouting at people.

Esoka has joined the line.

"Eh, I'm pretty sure that's Steve's handiwork. I'd recognize it anywhere after that time he puked up fish over my pile of books. The Scholars in the Archive were apoplectic. It's a shame I won't be able to get some snowy revenge against him." Ven replies to Niklas. "Congratulations, by the way."

Artorius has joined the line.

Ven has joined the line.

Aleksei has joined the line.

Entering with Niklas, the large knight steps in front of the Prince with the coronet as Geralt eyes and shouts at him. "Best of luck getting to him." Jeffeth shouts back, rolling his boulders of shoulders as he moves forward. The large man folds his shoulders over his massive chest in his best 'intimidating' stance, setting his jaw.

Tikva answers Aleksei's expression with a wide grin of her own, while the pile of walking laundry beside her goes, "HELLO," to all and sundry and waddles up towards his auntie (?) Esoka first, to whom he announces, "Mom says I can throw snow!" just in case there are about to be takebacks and he's just going to make sure this is recorded before trustworthy audiences. Tikva laughs and says, "Indeedy! He's gonna throw all the snow. -- Aleksei Morgan! Do tell who is this little man?!"

Felicia might be a little late to arrive, and sharing a flask of whiskey with Artorius, but she's here, grin broad as she glances up at her companion,"Man, you are going to be one of the biggest targets on the field. But in the dark, might blend in a little in that armor." she offers. Passing the flask over to him as they head towards the line,"At least one of the King's Own ought to be here to represent, however, even if I'll have to..." she pauses to snag a messenger to send them to the tower for her tabard, in the least, even if she's content to stay in her leathers rather than switch out for her proper armor.

Artorius follows Felicia with a kind smile to her. "Yeah..." he shrugs lightly with a chuckle. "Maybe I should change to more casual clothing..."

Tikva has joined the line.

"Thank you, thank you," Amanda says, as people start to gather. "Now, then, we are going to be playing with two teams. And, as it is the Crown that's hosting this lovely event, I think it's only fair for direct servants of the Crown to be our team leaders. And, so-... Princess Tikva! Over here, please. You and the little one, if you like. And Dame Felicia, if you could, over here?" she gestures. "And you two will be picking teams!"

Niklas gives Geralt an amiable smile. "Well, with a fellow as tubby as you around, my lord, there will always be plenty of places to hide, eh?" He looks back to Ven and offers a quick nod. "Thank you, friend. I was sad you could not make the reception. We gave away tiaras. One to each attendee and then as many as Luca could walk off with to the Prince." He pats Jeffeth's shoulder when the knight gets protective, then sends a wave Tikva's way.

Geralt snorts loudly as Jeffeth comes to stand in front of Nikklas. The large Northerner rolls his wide shoulders back, a grin stretching over his lips. "'Fraid the snow's going to break his brittle bones or somethin'?" His question to the knight comes with a hearty, belly shaking sort of laugh. "Come on, man, it's a snowball. Not a rock packed around ice. I'm sure he'll be fine."

"Just Aleksei," Aleksei confirms for Esoka with a wry sort of smile as he kind of shuffles over towards the line with the toddler's hand in his. And then he grins a little wider when Tikva approaches. "This is Fitz," he tells her, looking down at the boy. "Fitz, this is Tikva. Can you say hello?" Fitz studies Tikva for a long moment, considering, before he decides, "Henlo." And then without further adieu: "How old are you?" Aleksei just /sighs/ before he turns his distracted attention over to Amanda when she starts setting up team selection. He gives Tikva a significant look.

"Woo!" Tikva punches the air and says 'woo'. Yes, this is what she actually does. "Hello, Fitz!" she says to Fitz. "I'm 27," she adds, after a slight pause, because she has reached the age where you have to stop and start to count in your head. "How old are you? Tiber, come here buddy, we're going to be team captain."
"I'm Captain!" Tiber announces immediately.
"Okay, you're captain, but I'm captain voice," she tacks readily into this win.
"Captain Tiber!" Tiber insists to no one who is arguing with him.

win/wind/whatever typing

"I would have liked to go, the date caught me on a trip up North chasing down a lead on something, I'm afraid." Ven says to Niklas and Sabella. "So, which team shall we pick?"

Azova smiles and quirks a brow at the conversation Niklas is having with... she doesn't know any of these people. But that's okay! "Do we have a guarantee that no one will be packing ice in the snowballs, though?"

Esoka picks up Tiber joyfully and yells, "HELLO!" at him again. Setting an example he can follow, for better or worse, before returning him to Tikva. "Too right you are! Can I be on your team? I will through things well for you, little lord, my word upon it." She asks the toddler, mostly, though she does glance side-long at Tikva. When Aleksei introduces the boy, her beaming grows. Hello, Fitz! I'm Esoka. Are you good at throwing things? That's the goal of this game." The entirety of it.

Felicia shoves her flask back into her cincture with a laugh, dipping her head in acknowledgment of Amanda's words,"Well, you know, it'd be rude not to pick the brave sod who came with me, so... I'll have to go with Count Artorius Magnotta to start out with." she elects to lead off while Tikva and Tiber work on captaincy, then gestures towards Tikva with a grin.

"I think the teams pick us, I'm afraid. Here's hoping the captains value a quick wit, rational thought, excellent formal debate experience and, of course, a good, shiny hat." Niklas looks from Tikva to Felicia and then back to Ven. "But they'll probably just pick the people who are best at throwing things at other people, so let's hope we can hide behind the portly northerner."

Waldemai clears his throat and looks off into space at the talk of loaded snowballs.

Amanda is busy, busy, busy. Not so busy she's not eyeing Aleksei and Fitz now and then. She sends a radiant smile there way, then she's pulling out a single silver coin. "Alright, ladies. To see who chooses first..." And Felicia is already at it. Amanda gives a soft laugh, then a gesture. "There we have it... Princess Tikva, your turn!"

Jonathan, with a fair amount of amusement, stands slightly off to the side, humming something cheerful and upbeat as he looks from face to face, seeming to be in no hurry to shout out, just enjoying the atmosphere of happiness as he flicks a bit of something off his glove.

"Okay," Tiber tells Esoka from her arms, nodding seriously, and Tikva is ready to approve of this selection of his entirely. As she accepts her son being passed off back to her, Tikva laughs as well, and says, "Then my first selection shall be Dame Esoka, of course."

"He's not portly, he's well-armored." Ven says, and resumes his off-handed juggling as he watches the selection.

Fitz gives Tikva a very long-suffering sort of look and asks her MORE CLEARLY, because adults are clearly a little thick, "How old are you INSIDE?" Aleksei rubs at the bridge of his nose and murmurs something quieter to the boy. Possibly about it maybe being a little rude to ask things like that in Arx. Fitz interrupts to declare to Esoka boldly, "Course I am!" Aleksei tells Esoka, "I think it's his first. Snowballs, I mean."

Merek looks to a messenger, and nods a bit as he walks on.

Aneka, 3 Iron Guardsmen, Meeka leave, following Merek.

Geralt swings a glance to Azova and shrugs a meaty shoulder. "Packin' ice and rocks inside snowballs is only good when you wanna knock somebody's head off," he purses his lips with thought, and then breaks into another hearty laugh. Then he turns to look at Tivka and Felicia in turn, folding his arms across his chest. He waits to be chosen! Since that's apparently what's happening.

"Count Artorius to Dame Felicia's team, Dame Esoka to Princess Tikva's!" Amanda calls, in case not everyone heard. She gestures along with it. "Dame Felicia, you're up again... then you, Princess Tikva.

"His highness, Prince Niklas Grayson." Felicia elects after some debate with a broad grin his way,"Hopefully you're better at hurling snowballs than riding horses, your highness."

Azova snerks at Geralt, shrugging her shoulders. "Tell that to my siblings. But then again, maybe that WAS their intent." Kids are violent and weird sometimes.

Niklas waves over to Azova. "Lady Azova, this is my very dear friend Sir Jeffeth Bayweather. You will quickly find that there are few in Arx who do not love the man. And then this is Master Ven, a wily merchant who once told me he sought an elf bride. I assume he did not find one, else I'd have hoped to have been inv- Holy shit, did someone pick me?" Niklas looks around, clearly confused, then wanders up to stand by Felicia. "I did get third place in a jousting contest once, you know. Tilted with the king!"

Guess Artorius is going with Felicia! He moves to her side and crosses his arms with a small smile, apparently rather happy to go along with this.

"Oh, I don't know," Tikva says, her eyes widening slightly as she looks between Fitz and Aleksei. "Old, probably," she adds. "Not new, anyways." She clears her throat, scrubbing her face with one hand.
"Inside what?" Tiber asks, peering at Fitz like two bright dark eyes in the midst of fluff and wool. "We're /outside/," he tells the other boy helpfully, "so you can use--" he fills his lungs and bellows, "OUTSIDE VOICE."
"Oh gods," says Tikva, and laughs. "I shall have to look forward to pelting my new cousin with snow to the face, then," she says. "I clearly must separate him from his protector to do it, so... Sir Jeffeth, I must lay claim to your good right arm."

"But my face is where I keep at least seventy percent of my beauty," says Niklas in a small voice.

Jeffeth folds his massive arms over his chest, "I'll hold back my tough talk until I know who's team I'm on. I may be defending you for no reason." Jeffeth admits a little sheepishly to Niklas. When Niklas introduces Azova, the large knight goes into a deep bow, fist pressed to his chest. "Sir Jeffeth Bayweather, Knight of Solace at your service." The big man looks just as surprised when Niklas gets chosen. BEFORE HIM. Looking down at Niklas with wide eyes, but then he gets picked and all is right in the world. A sigh of relief before the big man looks over his shoulder to Azova. "A pleasure to meet you, my Lady!" Then the big knight is moving over to join Tikva and team.

"You're big," Tiber tells Jeffeth, in case he wasn't aware of this.

"Prince Niklas to Dame Felicia's team, Sir Jeffeth to Princess Tikva's!" Amanda calls out, then gestures to Felicia once more.

"You're small." Jeffeth informs Tiber, looking down at him, though he does smile broadly.

"I like him!" Esoka declares to Aleksei of Fitz. His rudeness and support of throwing things has charmed her. She cheers Jeffeth joins their team. Very much using her outside voice.

Ven leans over to Azova. "To be fair, that particular scheme involved pretending to look for an elf bride in order to bluff my way past some guards. The plan was to avoid actually getting married if at all avoidable. Even if I did already know the language."

Azova nods to the men she is introduced to-- and barks a laugh at Niklas's surprise. "Well done, your highness! Best of luck to you in the coming battle! You've got some fierce participants, looks like." She nods towards the children gathered. "Azova Darkwater. Good to meet you. I look forward to getting hit in the face by balls of snow."

Tiber looks outraged in so far as a pile of fluffy laundry can look outraged and then he seems to realize that he comes up to Jeffeth's... shin. He says: "Oh."

"Damn, I guess I should have gone with picking the tall guys first, my team of giants plan... ruined!" not that it sounds like she's particularly bothered by it, even if she does elect to go with,"Lord Geralt Crovane." with a grin.

"Then I shall take Master Morgan here," Tikva says with an airy wave to indicate Aleksei, which is convenient because he and Fitz are conveniently located right nearby.

"Lord Geralt to Dame Felicia's team, and Aleksei - so happy he's not chosen last - to Princess Tikva's!" Amanda calls. Then another gesture to Felicia.

Geralt looks up when his name is called, gaze swinging to Felicia. It rests there for a moment, before a grin breaks out onto his face and he goes to stand with her. There's another glance downward to Niklas though, the large man heaving a sigh. "I guess that means I won't be throwing any snowballs at you," he sounds almost disappointed. "Was hopin' to make your jaw less bare. I mean, you know what they say. Snow beards are better than no beards."

"I believe I may be the shortest Kennex, Dame Felicia. I include my sisters on that. Perhaps you had me confused with Octavia. Her big poofy wig makes her nearly seven feet tall." Niklas shrugs at Geralt. "My beard comes in all silver. Real ego killer, that."

"Then I will take... her." Felicia elects with a point at Azova before adding apologetically,"I'm afraid I don't know your name, my lady. But, well... yes. I'm sure you can make a fine snowball." based on exactly zero evidence. There's a laugh for Niklas' words,"I was kidding, anyways. I have no picking method aside from 'sounds interesting'... don't tell the opposition." though certainly if she wanted to avoid clueing in Tikva for real she would have been quieter.

"/I'm/ new," Fitz informs Tikva proudly. He wiggles his hand in Aleksei's a bit as if to indicate him. "He's new." Aleksei gives him a crooked little smile before looking back up at Tikva. "Oh! Great, thanks," he says brighter when he's chosen, and he lets Fitz tug him along over to the team.

Azova grins, bowing her head gratefully to Felicia. "Azova Darkwater, my lady. I'll try not to let you down!" And to her team she goes!

"The tall blond there, I'm sorry, I don't know your name either," Tikva says apologetically to Jonathan, "but I'm sure I heard you humming and I must favor the musical, those are the rules I've just made up."

"I tried to tell you." Jeffeth murmurs down to Tiber, leaning down to pat the laundry fluff gently on the top of his head. "It's okay though. You'll probably get bigger than me by the time you're done." Jeffeth rumbles lowly to him before straightening up, smiling brightly as Aleksei joins them and Fitz! The child gets a bow, Aleksei gets a distracted nod.

Artorius just watches as more and more are added to the ranks of Felicia and Tikva's teams. "Hm, good players on both sides of the field." he smiles brilliantly to all.

Jonathan lifts a hand to Tikva. "Much Obliged, Your Highness, surely am!" And he moves to stand with her, still beaming from his tall height of five foot eleven, even in armor. He dips a nod to all nearby, grinning crookedly and seeming to be having the time of his life already. "Oh hey Sir Jeffeth! Always a pleasure. You too, Prince Niklas."

Amanda gestures as two more are chosen. "Lady Darkwater, there... Sir Jonathan, there... Dame Felicia, you're up again!"

"Well, now I've got to complete the set with the.. what was the words? Wily merchant? Master Ven... if you would be so kind." Felicia offers with a small dip of her head.

"Oh yeah? A whole beard of silver, huh? Well. I was always of the impression that the man makes the silver, not that the silver makes the man, but I suppose whatever works," Geralt shrugs to Niklas. "I'm sure it looks pretty," he says of the beard, offering the man a wide grin still.

"Lady Tyde, I hope you'll come and join us too!" Tikva wiggles her fingers at Lethe with a smile.

Ven catches his snowballs, one in each hand, and offers a Felicia a bow with a bit of a chuckle, then wandering over to her side of the pitch.

Waldemai looks around. "If the teams are even I can step aside. I just came for the hot chocolate anyway...If someone's got some whiskey to warm it up."

Artorius leaves, following Felicia.

Artorius arrives, following Felicia.

Lethe nods to Tikva. "I suppose so." She looks to Waldemai. "Although if you want you can take my place. I really don't have to play."

"Master Ven to Dame Felicia's team, Lady Lethe to Princess Tikva's team!" Amanda announces. "And as Dame Felicia... opted... to go first..." There's a silly smile, faint as it is. "We'll put Master Waldemai on Princess Tikva's team!" She gestures. "Places, everyone!"

Waldemai shakes his head. "Thank you, Lady Lethe, but by all means have fun. I got away from my forge and had a nice walk."

Esoka cheers encouragingly for Lethe and Waldemai as they join the team. "We shall have victory!" she intones firmly. Snowball victory. Whatever that means.

Azova looks at her team with a wry smile. "Seems the odds are against us." She doesn't seem too upset by this, honestly. She's here to play, not to win.

Amanda checked dexterity + sewing at difficulty 9, rolling 8 higher.

Amanda drops TEAMS.

Lethe looks to Waldemai with a grin. "Now we'll be on the same team. It'll be more fun if we both play." She looks to the others on her team. "Good luck to all of you."

"Anyone else holding whiskey?" is what Felicia elects to ask of her team with a grin,"I make no promises about us winning, but if you all have fun, that's what counts." she opines, wriggling in to her tabard as the messenger delivers it to her, as if putting on a piece of cloth with a big silver sword on it isn't like painting an 'X' on herself.

Niklas stands up on his toes and looks out at the crowd. "'My wife is out there somewhere. She'd probably be better at this than me. She's a natural leader." He heaves a sigh, then looks at Ven, "Well. This is as good a spot to die as any, I suppose. You know, historically some real history happened here. I think there was a parade. This might be where Alarice invented cotton candy."

"I've seen worse odds," Geralt says to Azora, before he unclasps his flask from his belt loop. The flask is uncapped and gulped, before he wags it in Felicia's direction. "The team that drinks together wins together. Or something," he decides.

Niklas looks at Gerald's drink, then at his teammates, then sighs. "You guys realize Felicia bet heavily against herself before picking her team, right?"

Azova looks from the flask to Niklas, chuckling and shaking her head. "All the more reason for us to start drinking early, right? Hard liquor before something involving aim and hand-eye coordination never ends poorly, after all."

Ven makes an amused noise. "Clever of her. We'll just have to embarass her by winning, then. I'm actually rather good at this."

"Your Highness." Jeffeth calls out with a broad smile as the large man is packing a snowball into one hand. He goes quiet for a moment, just smiling. "I'm sorry for what's about to happen." A single finger points over at Niklas before Jeffeth goes back to snowball packing.

"The whiskey might make you a better throw," Geralt grunts to Niklas, hanging the flask above his head. He then squints across the playing field to Jeffeth, the knight earning a bark of a laugh from Geralt. "Should I start jump in front of him in defense?" he bellows to Jeffeth.

"Gotta love Northerners." Felicia offers with a grin at Geralt before accepting the flask for a drink of her own, snorting at Niklas as she passes it back,"I never bet against myself, if we fail, totally your fault." she insists to Niklas, then laughs,"Either way! No ice in the snowballs. Honorable fight. Even if we do have a couple of large targets." she nods off,"Shall we at least attempt some defenses or are we going to go battle royale style?"

Jeffeth has a small laundry pile that is apparently trying to copy literally everyting that he does at this point. Which includes pointing at Niklas, even if Tiber honestly has no idea why.

Waldemai is a southerner. Just sayin'.

Niklas calls back to Jeffeth, "What's that you say, little fellow? I couldn't hear you because your huge mustache is in the way!"

Jonathan is still humming a jaunty tune about a man and a female troll (thankfully not actually singing most of the lyrics) as he packs up his snowball, looking over the opposing team without anyone in particular. And still grinning like he doesn't have a care in the world, truly.

"Okay team," Tikva says to her team, "our goal is to win, by having the most fun, and maybe by being the most loud. Snowballs, nock ... I guess you can't nock a snowball..."

"Only if you want to go down before he does." Jeffeth calls back to Geralt with a broad smile. Looking down to Tiber, the large knight grins broadly. "You want to take a look from up top, my friend?" And without waiting for an answer, two large hands go to seize Tiber by the waist and easily lift the laundry pile up to briefly sit on his shoulder and look over the soon to be battlefield. Jeffeth glances up at Tiber, carefully holding him on his shoulder. "You tell Prince Niklas I don't have a moustache, would you?"

Niklas takes off his fancy hat and passes it to his sour faced assistant, who puts it on her head and disappears into the crowd.

Isabelle, who isn't happy to be doing this have been dismissed.

"Alright everyone!" Amanda calls out. "Princess Tikva's team over there... Dame Felicia's over there..." Beat. "Now the rules...!" And Amanda explains the rules. Which mostly involve no ice, no rocks, no being mean, "...and anyone who intentionally hits one of these children gets tossed off the Sovereign Bridge by Sir Jeffeth!" Amanda concludes. Then smiles sweetly. "Questions?"

Artorius just chuckles lightly to Geralt, Niklas, and Felicia. "Goodness. Very well, I suppose we'll have to play fair. So...let's have a good match, yes?" he says with a bright smile on his face. "Alrighty, let's get started." and he moves over to the select spot for the team he happens to be a part of.

Ven snerks at Niklas' moustache comment and Jeffeth's reply as he makes his way over to Dame Felicia's side of the square.

"UP!" Tiber yells as Jeffeth hoists him, clearly pleased to have such a high vantage. He kind of grabs onto his head for balance and goes in plain confusion, "But you don't have one."

"What kind of childhood doesn't involve getting whacked in the face by a snowball at least half a dozen times?" Geralt muses to himself after Amanda's rules, before he shrugs and reaches for a handful of snow, already starting to pack it into his fist.

Waldemai follows the team over there, eyeing the enemy. Kill! Kill! Kill!

At the suggestion of murdering someone, Jeffeth glances down to Amanda with slightly widened eyes. Then looks up to Tiber. "That's exactly right. Anyway, I've got to hit people in the face with some snow now. You stay behind me, yes?" And Jeffeth then slowly lowers Tiber back down to the ground, picking his snowball back up.

Aleksei crouches down in the snow, eyeing the opposing team a bit as he starts scooping up snow in his hands. "See, you gotta pack it in real tight like this," he tells Fitz, showing him his highly refined snowball creation technique. He eyes his team, eyes the opposing. "Don't worry," he tells Fitz. "We're definitely winning. Lookit the arm on Jeffeth, for one thing."

"My lord, under my watch, we minimize the torment and torture of children," Amanda says, to Geralt, in that perfectly matronly scolding tone. "Unrelated to learning manners and sitting still during services, at least," she adds, with a gentle clearing of her throat.

Niklas shouts after Isabelle, "Hey! This is just temporary!" He narrows his eyes, then looks back at Jeffeth. "Okay, team. He's a small target, but aim for the man with the comically oversized mustache."

"That sounds like a worse punishment than snowballs." Felicia opines drily, picking a spot and packing herself a few snowballs, at least a couple of which get deposited in her tabard for now,"How about this, team, if we win, I'll send you all your very own bottle of whiskey. Fair?"

Esoka has her game face on. It's a lot like her usual, toothy, smiling face. She begins balling up snow, taking care to pack it for best velocity.

Geralt laughs over to Amanda. "Ah, back in my day, snowball fights were considered fun not torment. At least, that's what I told my mother when my pansy brother'd come runnin' in with a bloodied nose from all those rocks I hid in the balls," he shrugs his shoulders. One snowball is packed, and he sets it aside, and starts making another. He's not putting rocks in them - promise!

Lethe laughs as she looks to Tikva. "I certainly plan to have fun." She gives the other team an appraising look.

Azova crouches down to ready some snowballs. She looks from Niklas to Jeffeth, a brow raised in confusion. Moustache? What..? "The... alright, if you say so, Highness." She chuckles and grins to Felicia. "Sounds like a fair bargain."

Niklas grimaces at Felicia. "And what do we get if we lose?" Still, he starts making snowballs and adding them to Geralt's pile. "I think I'm going to write a song about this, since I never got to sing my Grazia song. I have too much rudeness pent up."

Artorius kneels down in silence to crunch a snowball in his hands, and prepares to throw it!

"Mom says I can throw snow!" pipes Tiber in outrage when he is put down and no longer gets to be super tall. He starts globbing together some snow in scowling, haphazard fashion. He's totally going to throw snow! At someone! Maybe even on the other team.
"Snow, blow, owe, row," sings out Tikva, because she's... helping?

"Snow in unmentionable places, most likely." Felicia offers drily to Niklas with a wink at Azora, waiting for the signal to begin before working on her toss.

And there goes the first volley! ... Amanda gives an undignified yelp as one goes way astray, but quickly stands back up and dusts off her cloak. Otherwise, it looks like Team Felicia is thoroughly ineffective at hitting Team Tikva!

Geralt hefts up a snowball, testing the weight of it in a meaty hand. He's too aggressive and crushes the first snowball into flakes, which makes him scowl as he bends to grab another ball. He doesn't squeeze this one as hard.. which is probably why when he swings his arm back and attempts to launch it over the playing field, it rolls backwards off his fingertips and lands on Niklas' shoe with a wet PLOP! Perhaps he totally meant to do that. "Well, shit," he grouches.

Waldemai is laughing at the great dancing their team is doing until Lady Lethe gets nailed. "Ouch! Are you all right?" He calls across, "There'd better not have been any ice in that!"

Artorius chucks a snowball at the enemy team! hoping to pelt one...but it appears that he misses his particular target. dang.

Jonathan whistles while he works, putting the finishing touches on the most spherical snowball that anyone here besides probably Aleksei has every produced. And as the other side flings their volley, he smartly just..Bends over, dipping right out of the way as he picks up a bit more snow to finish his project. All clear..This time.

Dodging with panache, Tikva cackles a little like a maniac as the snow whiffs past her, and she levers her arm as she crows, "Ready, Tiber?"
Tiber has run back and forth trying to figure out where to throw from and almost gets pegged by stray snow. "Yaaaah!" he yells. "I'm captain! I'm captain!" Okay, kid. Sure you are.

Esoka is not the most nimble snowball evader on the field, but she bowls around in a serpentine fashion and manages to avoid the things. "YAAAAH!" she hollers, picking up on Tiber's battlecry. She'll support his tyranny.

Felicia chuckles,"Well, I didn't pick my team based upon their throwing skill, so, I'm not too worried as long as you don't hit one of us." Felicia advises Azova with a grin. There's a respectful nod as everyone manages their dodges, the redhead electing to hastily wind and bind her hair up with hairpins as she preps for their own dodging,"Hopefully your dodging's better, if only for the sake of the whiskey?"

Lethe tries to avoid the snowball but takes a hit. "I have the worst luck sometimes, but I'm fine. No ice!"

The team is a bunch of leaves on the wind. Jeffeth leaps back with the rest of his team as they dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge around everything that is thrown. Tossing up one snowball in his hand he catches it with a broad smile as he looks over to the other team. He throws up his fist at Tiber's chant. "He's the captain now!"

Waldemai checked dexterity + athletics at difficulty 20, rolling 6 higher.

Niklas nods his head, patching himself up. "You know what, guys? I've got a good feeling about this!" Then he gets to his feet, grabs a balls and throws. And if his aim is off, his heart is suddenly in it. The snowball sails beautifully through the air and lands with a delicious splat, striking a hot chocolate vendor right in the ear. The very same vendor whose cart Niklas destroyed a week back. "Oh, shit! Sorry about that! I'll... uh... buy you a nice hat!" He sits back on his heels, squats down and says, "Oh, we're gonna fuckin' die now."

Purely coincidence that Jonathan, one of the new Stahlben, aims for the new Crovane in town. Surely. But regardless, he aims that perfect sphere /squarely/ at Geralt's face with a stickball-style throw that crosses the distance to land squarely on the mark, Jonathan beaming at the man with a slight bow of his head, still all cheer.

Niklas checked dexterity + dodge at difficulty 20, rolling 9 lower.

Artorius takes cover as snowballs are once again thrown! "Woah, that was close..."

Tikva leads her son -- or maybe is led by her son -- in a rousing volley of snowballs, though Tiber's falls a little short of its target with a slightly sad BLAP and snow-splatter. Tiber says, "Boo!" and immediately starts making a new ball.

Azova BARELY dodges. Barely. Mostly because she got out of the way slightly faster than Niklas and Geralt. She pulls a grimace. "Sorry!"

Ven makes a diving leap behind a snow fort as at least one well-aimed snowball comes directly at him.

Niklas is knocked clean on his ass and from the ground he waves toward his teammates. "Guys. Guys. Tell my wife... I loved her... and tell Ford... he sucks..."

Lethe wasn't hit after all. She gets a snowball and throws it at the other team. She doesn't have the best aim, but she cheers on her team as they hit the other team.

Jeffeth meanwhile, goes for Ven. And misses. "Huh. He really is good at this." The big man admits with a light frown. He ducks down to start packing up another snowball. "Well, if at first you don't succeed." The big man stands up fully and looks at Niklas falling in the snow. "Aww. Good try, your Highness!"

Felicia manages to dodge the snowball headed her way with a whoop of laughter, only to discover that they've lost a couple,"Well, I suppose that is the downside of being tall.." she laughs,"Though on the upside... the sooner one gets to the whiskey?" she snorts at Niklas with a laugh, going to offer him a hand up before prepping for the next volley.

"Watch out there, Prince, they're gonna take off your head and then how're you gunna wear that pretty corone-" Geralt might've tried to step in to save Niklas, but then there's a snowball splatting flat across his face. He doesn't stagger back, but simply stands there like a statue, wet sliming across his mouth and nose. He lifts a hand, wipes his face off with his forearm, and offers a low and hearty chuckle. "Well, fuck," he mutters good-naturedly, looking across the play yard to see who was the offender. Jonathan gets a glance, and then Geralt shrugs his shoulders, wandering off to the side. He pats Niklas on the back on his way. "The best men are always targeted first," he grunts to Niklas.

"At least the prettiest ones," Tikva calls across the battlefield. Helpfully!

"Not wrong, My Lord!" Jonathan calls over good-naturedly, already packing his next art piece as he watches the enemy line closely.

The throwing was what Esoka came here for, and throw she does. Lobbing her well-rolled snowballs at the opposing side with abandon. It's unclear if she's aiming at anyone in particular, or just the most convenient target in the moment.

Geralt winks in Tikva's general direction, fluttering his lashes at her. "Damn straight! I knew I saw ya eyein' me up there," he calls to her with a bark of a hearty laugh.

Jeffeth gives Ven a distracted nod. "We'll see how far that gets you, then!" The big man calls out, taking a few steps back swinging his head easily out of the side as a snowball comes whizzing by. Another snowball is picked up and pat smoothly in one hand.

More snowballs, back and forth, back and forth! Amanda? She's keeping half an eye on it. Mostly while sipping hot spiced wine and chatting.

Felicia saw that! Not that Jonathan was particularly hiding it, but Felicia gives the blond man the universal 'I'm watching you' after she manages to avoid his ball, prepping her own with a snort of amusement,"Someone's going to stand on you, prince Niklas, and you'll have no-one but yourself to blame." she advises him as she preps for the rejoinder.

Ven finally takes a hit despite his acrobatics from an exceptionally well aimed throw. Rolling up to his feet he makes his way off the field with a cheerful wave of acknowledgement to Sir Jeffeth.

And so Jonathan and Felicia are rapid-firing snowballs with fierce, blurring intensity, Jonathan calling out after she manages to duck his return volley, "Bravo! Win or Lose, been an honor, Dame Felicia!" And then he's back to rocking back and forth on his feet, grinning the whole while.

Jeffeth is darting to another snow mound, sliding on his knees. The big man points one finger at Ven before throwing a hard side winder at the other man. Flinging it hard, the big knight then pops up back to his feet and goes to pick up another snowball. He waves a dismissive hand to Niklas. "Your Highness, not right now!" The big man yells to the maybe concussed prince?

Azova takes a snowball to the side of the head. Awelp. She lets out a squawk as the cold hits her skin. "Sorry, captain! I tried!" She offers an apologetic bow Felicia's way, and heads off towards the nearest available hot chocolate.

Esoka runs, engaging in the odd barrel roll, and stays in the game until she can prepare another snow missile. This one is lodged, with a grunt and thrust of her muscled arms, at Artorius. It's reasonably on target. She's no sharp shooter, but she gets the job done.

Alayne has joined the Fountain Benches.

Tikva whoops noisily while throwing a snowball from each hand. Meanwhile, her small son slips while throwing a snowball, gallumphs to the ground in a flopped over pile of clothing, and starts to yell. Tikva says, "Aw, shit," and hastens to his side while he's yelling. "I might have to cut out, folks. Esoka, carry on the torch!"

Niklas goes wandering off, muttering to himself, "They were good when they were lime. They went together with cherry. But apple just tastes bad."

As that next folly goes flying, Amanda is paying attention again. "Alright!" she calls! "That's enough! I'm declaring Princess Tikva's team the winner! I do not need to one of the Kings Owned burried under a blizzard of snow!"

Artorius is pelted! Oh nooooo! Ah well. "Oh, looks like I'm eliminated." he gives a sorry expression to Felicia. "Good luck!" and he walks out to carry on with the day.

Alayne wanders into the plaza quietly, her lithe figure surrounded by the long, violet cloak keeping the cold from reaching her swaying hard with the wind as Niklas left by her, and she soon found a bench to gently park herself into.

Ven looks at the departing Niklas with a concerned look. "Perhaps we should make sure he gets home."

"I will avenge you, Tiber!" Esoka vows, arming herself with more snowballs. And she'll keep on throwing until the match is called. Possibly even after all her opponents are gone. She enjoys this sort of thing.

Waldemai has another snowball loaded up and ready to let fly when the game is called. "Okay," he says, tossing it aside. "I'll have those roast chestnuts now, but only if they're hot!"

Last woman standing. Felicia can't help the laugh as her team is decimated, turning to face the opposing team with a slight shake of her head, only for Amanda to call out. There's a bark of laughter as she straightens,"While we stand, the crown will not fall!" she advises,"But I suppose, fair enough." her last snowball is plopped into the snow with a flowery bow for her opponents,"Nicely done, all of you."

Jonathan lets his last snowball flick out of his hand to plop on the ground behind him, grinning broadly. "Well done by all indeed! Valiant effort, that was /fun/!" And so it was, brushing little bits of snow dust he's received from his person as he hums happily to himself.

"No one questions your dedication, Dame Felicia," Amanda says, brightly, as she and some assistant types start moving around. "And now, for the winning team... we have... commemorative scarves!" she declares, voice gone just a bit silly, as she unfurls one.
