I attended the Sip n Spar last night. It was so fun watching everyone's different styles! I had forgotten I got myself a dagger the last time I was here. Made me realize I should probably learn how to use it, even though I know I prefer the feel of my bow.

Relationship Note on Silvio

I awoke this morning to an surprise delivery from a friend. A warm looking cloak with--A unicorn. After asking a few questions (Because why wouldn't I, it had a horn on it), I did accept because it really is beautiful, I thanked him. Now to find him that mountain....And thank you him properly.

I first met Esme Fidante when I went to the Shrine of Limerance to get some guidance on an issue I was having with my feelings for someone. What I found was a warm and open soul that was very willing to listen, gave me great advice and became someone I felt I could trust.

In the time I have spent with her since I have found so much more. A friend, a confidant, someone I can talk to openly and freely and she challenges me. She gives me time to think, she presents things to me from a different angle. I never expected I would ever find someone like her as part of my life. She reminds me that there can be something that is just wholesome. Someone that doesn't demand of you. She just asks, and I want to give.

(Except maybe the apology gifts, we need to talk on that. If I have to give her an apology gift for every misstep, Darren's gonna need to raise my allowance.)

I never thought a Rose from Tor would take root and blossom, but she has. And I appreciate everything she has given me.

A conversation the other day with someone that went along the lines of 'Oh, there's this dangerous thing, and then this other dangerous thing, and then this OTHER dangerous thing...' has got me thinking that perhaps what I need as a supplement is some endeavor completely and entirely safe.

But I cannot think of a thing.

I have not been back long and much of my attention has been taken up with finalizing things at the new manor in the Westrock Commons. I really never thought I would ever write words such as those. It's a little strange, but there it is, and the place is slowly coming together. Next year the orange tree planted out front should begin to bear fruit as well. Third reminds me, I must speak with Felicity about another stained glass piece.

Last evening I managed to be social finally instead of taking care of business. I went to the Sip and Spar at the Golden Hart which I have not done in ages. I arrived just after Lady Zoey had won an archery contest. Which tickled me to no end. There is nothing more gratifying, to me as a teacher, than to see a student excelling. Everyone was amenable to another round of archery and I am even more happy that Lady Zoey beat me. Even if my social interaction was cut short by a messenger, I am glad I went. If only for that.

Had an absolute blast on the Muddy run yesterday, and I admit to some surprise at actually winning, seeing the stiff competition. Ras is one of the most creative when it comes to moving forward! An inspiration for much fun and games in the upcoming months.

I won an absolute marvellous crown. Josephine Arcuri outdid herself, as usual, not only at hosting the event.

Relationship Note on Joscelin

Tonight I stood in my workshop covered in grime; sweat, soot, and metal shavings coating my skin. I stood before a sand mould, packed tightly and sandwiched between two pieces of steel. I watched as within that mould slowly, oh so slowly, cooling was a new alloy. My third batch made. Oh my friend, what wonders could you have worked with this? Resting safely in my workshop I have some already finished, and as I looked upon it I cannot help but think of you. I wish you could have joined us on this project. My dearest cousin Mailys, sweet Hana, Ladies Lianne and Carissa and I made this together. You would be so proud of us.

This metal is so pure, so clear it shines like a mirror.

I write now, the technique use to create this alloy in the hopes that wherever you are now, this knowledge will reach you:

To create the alloy coming to be known as "mirror-silver" one must take equal parts Stygian and Iridiscite. (Note: I have as of yet been successful in creating a stable alloy that uses unequal parts of the two metals, if someone manages to do so I would greatly love to have this knowledge. But so far nothing has panned out.)

Take equal parts Stygian and Iridiscite. First heat the Stygian to its melting point, until it becomes molten-- but becareful not to bring it to its boiling point. You do not want the Stygian to boil away. Add then the Iridescite to the molten Stygian, and mix until the two metals are fully incorporated. Pour into a metal or sand mould and allow to cool. (I have found that mirror-silver takes longer to harden fully than it's parent metals, so do not despair if it takes longer than expected.)

Once fully hardened one should have an alloy of such pure silver clarity that it is as reflective as a mirror.

((OOC: I have taken some OOC liberties on describing the process above, so please note that there may be other IC ways to create it. I used http://www.uefap.com/reading/exercise/ess3/alex2.htm as a reference on how to mix metals to create alloys and what some of the quirks of doing so might be. ))

What an amazing night at the Sip'n Spar! I went from not even being sure I would get to show off my archery skills, to defending the name of Kennex against my old teacher, Violet. I beat her by 2 points, but a win is a win.
The best part of the night had to be when I climbed up on a table, held Dawn's Light over my head, and said, "Are there any archers in this room with the confidence to challenge me? So confident am I in my skills that not only will I offer 1000 silver to anyone who bests me, but I will even let you borrow my favorite bow and use it against me." Suffice it to say, that 1000 silver went to charity.

Whatever happens when I'm just a memory, I hope that it will be interesting to some scholar at least to observe the paths I've taken.

Some commoners will bemoan the law being on the side of the nobles, and of course it is, but their paths are often chosen for them.

Me? I was an orphan, doing what I could to get by until the Culler clan took me in. I learned how to fight and made some money that way, but it never felt like the right path and so I studied a trade.

Somewhere along the way, most of them took a liking to me and so here I am, not a drop of blood between me and any of them, yet they all look to me to steer this ship we call a family.
