Tournament of Roses Champions

It is with great pride that I proclaim the Tournament of Rose concluded. There are so many that I need to thank for helping to make this ancient tourney a reality again so we could celebrate one of our most storied traditions! I would like to thank the King and the High Lords for hosting this event and allowing me the honor of officiating! It has been my greatest joy to watch this Tournament unfold. There are many stories I'd like to share, and perhaps I might find a day soon to take over the Trader's Tavern and share my favorites to those that wish to hear them. But for now I should speak of the Champions.

The Joust Tournament was an amazing event, and if you missed it I encourage you to seek out stories of it. There were some amazing bouts! But in the end only one could claim victory. And that rider was Master Tristan, the Royal Stablemaster. He rode with grace and precision and claimed not just a beautiful helm of Diamond plate loving crafted by Master Eithne Thornburn, but he won a boon from our king as well!

The Grand Melee lived up to it's name in every sense of the word. There were two teams, Blue and Red, and the Blue team ended up seizing victory this day. When just the blue team remained the remaining fighters fought valiantly against one another until one one remained. That one was Prince Talen Velenosa. The young man trained by Archduke Niccolo Velenosa showed the very same skill, cunning and fortitude that his mentor did so many years ago and claimed Victory and he was named the Unyielding Champion of the Grand Melee.

He was not the only victor though. Tradition states that the warrior that fought most gloriously be recognized as a champion as well. And sometimes even in defeat you can show such puissance that your prowess can not be denied. Though the Red Team would fall, High Lord Victus Thrax fought with the raw power and fury that one can only see in the Mourning Isles. His last stand though greatly outnumbered showed his undeniable spirit and turned the hearts of the crowd many of whom cheered him as their favorite!

They both now proudly bear Championship Belts, designed with great artistry by Eithne Thornburn and crafted by Oliver Coldrain. They will also be able to ask the traditional boon of the Crown. It was an event that songs can be sung of and I hope that this will be the tradition of the Tourney being with us for some time to come! For the King, for the Faith, and for the Compact!
