Resolution

Me and my fluffy little dog would both piss on Everard's grave if he had one. I'm sorry he wronged you. Know who else he wronged? The Compact, the King, the Iron Guard, those poor bastards he murdered, his family, and me. So get in line. Let's not turn this into a whining contest about who that asshole wronged the worst.

I am a Voice of House Valardin. I speak with the authority of the high lord and have for many years. Does that mean I can wager the city of Sanctum on a game of cards? Can I watch horses race and wager their house sword? Maybe the Valardin navy is figuratively on the table when me and some cranky old bastard decide to bet on which mouse my dog will catch first. No. And if you're gullible enough believe that any person can wager such things as these, there's nothing I can do to help you. Everard never owned Vowkeeper. That belongs to House Telmar. You can't bet what you don't own. Only an idiot would think that's possible and so far that list seems to only include yourself and a dead man. And House Mazetti. For some reason? I don't know.

My first inclination is to tell you to go drown yourself in the river but that wouldn't be very nice. I allowed my Voices to deal with you as a kindness. They are soft-hearted and generous, character flaws I haven't been able to beat out of them. That was the diplomatic approach. Now it's my turn and I'm putting an end to this. I'm willing to be relatively fair-minded because I do regret what that piece of trash brother of mine did to many people. So on behalf of House Telmar - which is me - I apologize.

Here's what's going to happen. I'm going to buy you a sword. I hear you're a pretty good champion. Congratulations, since my brother apparently crippled you. I'm glad you got better and can win duels nowadays. You must be pretty persistent, as I am now finding out. You've already got an apology from Ansel. You've got one from me. I'm not beating that dead horse any more but there you are. If you have children, they can become wards of House Telmar. They can be raised alongside the other children of the House and suffer the same as all of them do under my guidance.

Here's what's not going to happen: You're never getting that sword. Not unless you march an army up to the gates of the Telmarch, kill every last defender, kill my son, kill my dog, and pry it from my cold dead hands. If you think you can do that, I will eagerly await a Softest Whisper while behind the red wall that has stood firm for one thousand years. Good luck.

There it is. Take it or leave it. That's what on the table. A fine sword to do whatever you want with. That's more than I would have offered had my Voices not gotten involved. You may thank them at your earliest convenience. Or you get nothing and I don't want to hear from you again. Since you want to speak publicly about this, that's the only way I'm going to accept your answer. This is the final word on the subject. I'd like to thank Duchess Nicia Laurent for the diligent assistance she has provided. I would like to thank Sir Preston for his offer of mediation. I am grateful to you both.

So, which is it?

--- Seraceni Stance (from Prisila) ---
Marquis Dario and the people of Ischia send our condolences to the Whisper House and find Duke Telmar to be positively fierce but fair in his ruling.

--- Leary Stance (from Fairen) ---
Perhaps other Houses that are not directly involved should allow those directly involved to make the final decision on the matter?

--- Rubino-Zaffria Stance (from Aiden) ---
I offer a suggestion: Cake! It helps in times of great conflict. Our baker is pretty awesome.

--- Mazetti Stance (from Hadrian) ---
To question is an important hallmark of the Thirteenth. We understand that often some Houses of the Oathlands turn their nose up at such a concept, instead focusing their attention on the Orthodox. Such as the fantastic aspects of the Pantheon represented by Gloria and Limerance.

--- Amadeo Stance (from Duarte) ---
Though entertaining, I suppose, I don't think this one makes anything better.

--- Moore Stance (from Tessa) ---
Isn't Duke Telmar dreamy?
