Episode: Siege Stories II

Posted by Story on 04/10/17
The Hall of Heroes has been a place that provided many calm and inspiration in these days where very little makes sense. And on a cold day of the winter siege many had come to see the plaque hung on the pedestal that will one day soon bear the statue of Lord Commander Dayne Valardin, a man that many consider Arvum's last living legend. It was perhaps only a matter of time before the enemy struck at us there to weaken our hearts. The precise details are all very confused as people that ran from the hall in fear where to panicked to explain what they saw, but three of this fearsome Bringers of Silence attacked, one disguised as an artisan mounting the plaque, and two others that had taken the place of Valardin Honor guard.

What happened next people remember more clearly, as some of Arvum's most powerful fighter's came to the Hall of Heroes that day. One of the large bringer's was descended on by Sir Roland, Lord Commander Silas, Prince Barric, Sparte all buried their blades into one of monsters. While a man named Merek poured blessed water over his blade and then ended the threat. Princess Alis and Lord Fiachra worked in amazing tandem, with crushing blows from the princess' flail and arrows from the Lord's quiver keep another Bringer off guard, while Princess Marian and Lady Eirlys tore it down with powerful blades. Against the third bringer, Prince Aiden stood his ground firing, arrow after arrow into the beast, refusing to flee, even as as the monster was upon him. Fearless in the face of death, Prince Barric and Lord Commander Silas wheeled to help the Grayson prince and brought down the final Bringer.

The fighters were not the only heros. Lord Percephon kept his calm and helped evacuate civilians, while Prince Antonio and Lord Luis defended those trying to flee, and Mira helped tend to the wounds of bystanders hurt in the initial attack. It was an attempt by the Enemy to strike at our heart, but it was a night they say we will not buckle under fear. The message is clear, if they have come all the way to Arx to die, we are happy to oblige.
