Few would ever accuse Lady Eirene Malvici of being a sentimental woman. Battleworn, tough, sardonic, and foul-mouthed, but not sentimental. There is no doubt, however, among the soldiers of Southport and the bannermen of House Malvici that served with her just how deeply she cares. It would be easy to escape notice that Lady Eirene personally wrote personalized letters of condolences to each of the families of the hundreds that died, and that she returned momentos of the dead in every case she could, but it means the world to those families. Her leading the Vulture's Feast, a memorial celebration of the fallen, and then funeral rites invoking Lagoma, Tehom out of Lycene tradition, and now adding he goddess of Death and inviting the three archlectors to join her for the service. It means much to Southport, and if some hardliners in the Oathlands dislike it, there's no evidence at all that their opinion matters a damn to Eirene.
