Tales of Valor IV:

The last scion of Voducce. Who would expect such a man to end up on this field of glory? But where better for Costas Voducce to reclaim some of that lost honor? Where better to show your family name is not yet done? Is this the start of a new Legend? A new rise? Only time will tell that tale. The tale I weave today is just the start. No glory hound was he, even if he has the best of reasons to be eager for such. Lady General Calypso would be dead upon the mud, trampled by a thousand shavs, and Arx would be burning... if it was not for his blade. As that mindless horde pressed around the command of the army, those shavs foolish enough to close were cut down one after the other by the forgotten man of Voducce.

Now this is a true mercenary. It's not just about the coin! It's about the show! Where is the fun in just earning the silver if you can't look damn good while doing it. And while that fanciful clothing and armor of Leta Broadbent became darker with mud and blood, she held hard and held strong, that poleaxe of hers never wavering and never dropping. She earned her coin and then some. When the final charge was given against the corrupted Giant she was right at its feet, intent to earn her keep.

I told you there was a few Prodigals. And while we are a bit far from Greenmarch, the bows and arrows of those once wild men and women rained terror down upon the shavs as they marched through mist and mud. Lord Fiachra Greenmarch and his archers rained volley after volley upon the foe, and despite the seeming unstoppable advance of the horde that numbered almost double our own, they continued to fire. Even when the lines shifted and turned, collapsed and opened, when Bringers and Shavs were only a step away, the disciplined twang of Greenmarch archers continued on.

You might not have heard of this one before. Some fighter from the Lower Boroughs, seems to have a fan club of sea salted Prodigals? I ain't never seen a shav like her and I doubt I ever will again, especially one who charges up the arm of a giant. But when I watched Zhayla drive a trident in the rotted eyes of a thirty foot tall giant. Well. I could do with more shavs like her.
